I just finished a posting and lost lit so this one is going to be very brief!
My ancestor John Martin Jr of GA had sister named Sarah (Sallie) Martin married to Matthew Carswell, son of Alexander Carswell who brought his family to America to Savannah, GA in 1772, moved to St. George Parish (now Burke Co.) in 1775, fought in American Rev. and was granted 287 1/2 acres for service. He chose it to be in Franklin Co. GA. so granted in 1785.
Some years back I was on mailing list for theCarswell Chronicle..does it still exist?
John Martin Jr. named his lastborn son ... Jared Carswell Martin he was my 2nd ggf.
Does any of this ring a bell?

Meredith,

In the event your March query has not been answered, The Carswell Chronicle was discontinued when Robert M. Carswell retired. You can still access the Chronicle at the Carswell Family page. I will have to find the URL and will send it to you. I have the Alexander and Isabella Browne Carswell pedigree chart going back to Scotland and the 1200's. The work back into Scotland was done by Bill and Ann Carwell. If you would like to see it, please e-mail me and I will send you a username and password.

Hi Larry,
I would be interested in the Carswell Pedigree chart the Carswell Cronicle site. I have just started to search my genealogy. I have been told by relatives that "my" Carswells are descended from Mary Queen of Scots and became curious.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Jack,
I am researching my husband's family(Lightfoots) and I am seeing Carswell being used as a first name in 1846 in Crawford County Ga. Carswell Sr's Parents were (Phillip)Benjamin Lightfoot and Jincy Holliday from Burke County. Jincy's father was named Gilford Holliday. Are there any connections here that you can see? Thanks for your attention. Good Searching! Pat.
