I am researching my gr-gr-grandmother Mary Magdeline Clair who was born in Lancaster, Pa., March 19,1845. She was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth MUSSELMAN Clair. The family moved to Freeport, Illinois in about 1850. Any connections?

Hi Kathy,
Sorry for the delay, I have had family in town. I do think there may be some connections here but more work needs to be done. Through the graciousness of fellow researcher Kiki sending me a court record dated August 1826 it appears that my Benjamin Musselman born 1821 Lancaster is in all probability a son of Jacob Musselman and Mary of Donegal tp. How everything connects is not yet determined. My Benjamin at the time is listed as a minor under 14. Another daughter was Mary and there was a third child. I will be posting info on this and other will info Kiki sent asap which includes your line. Your line seems clear from Elizabeth Musselman born ca 1823 marrying Samuel Clair to her father David Musselman born Jan 22, 1797 bpt First Reformed Church in Lancaster City, Lanc co PA and dying ca 1848 with record in Manor tp., Lanc co., PA. He is found in 1840 E Hempfield p 105 and Lancaster City in 1830 I believe. The Benjamin listed as a son of your David appears to have married Anna Moser Jan 25, 1853 in W Hempfield. David's father is listed as the son of Christian born Sept 8, 1751. From other found info it appears he is the first Manor tp settler of "this original branch of Musselman's." Beyond this I find the record more fuzzy and in need of better documentation. Hope something here helps a bit. Please let us all know what you have found also. Every little bit helps. The Jan 1989 "PA Mennonite Heritage" does list a good deal of the "Descendants of Christian d 1734 of Lancaster tp., Lanc co PA by Emily Phelan." Hope something here helps. There is also an interesting article on this Manor group found in the "PA Genealogical Society Magazine" I will try to post later.

Well as can be seen it has been a while since I posted and I have a new e-mail. I have discovered that my Benjamin is not the one listed as a son of Jacob. A eureka moment after all these years. Still more to discover but my Benjamin F Musselman/Mussleman 1821 PA-1908 Indiana is the son of Christian Musselman/Mussleman born 1780-1790 and in 1805 married Elizabeth Funfrock. Elizabeth's sister Maria Magdalene Funfrock married Henry Musselman. This Henry and Maria are buried in West Hempfield.

Maybe I finally found a link! I have a Jacob Musselamn who was married to Mary Bombach before 1790 when her father George Bombach died. When her borther George Bombach petitioned the court to sell the property and divide it he mentions his sister Mary being married to Jacob Musselman and a sister Elizabeth being married to Frederick Zimmerman. Do you know what Mary's surname was?
Any help would be appreciated.
