Luther E Brayton was the son of Benjamin Brayton (1778-1847) and Rebecca Read/Reed (1778-1841). He was the grandson of James Wheaton Brayton (1757-1832), a Revolutionary War soldier.

See Brayton Family History by Clifford Ross Brayton Jr. Vol. I & II; Rochester, NY: 1978, which may be available at a local library. Or you can locate the nearest copy through www.WorldCat.org. I found it at the DAR library.

The DAR has a new website with lots of free information at http://www.dar.org/library/online_research.cfm

According to the book above, he was married to Susan F or T Brown. In 1820 & 1830 he is living with his parents on the census.

Hope this helps. He is my 2nd-great-granduncle. I don't know anything else about him.
