I'm just starting research and any info would be appreciated. My grandfather, Andrew Jarema, came from Poland/Ukraine town of Choludno (variations: Kludno, Hudno, etc) and settled with all of the other Jarema's in Northern Michigian. He relocated to the South Suburbs of Chicago. We spent many a summer in Boyne Falls, Mi, and Detroit/Deaborn/Troy area so I know I'm related to many of you in Michigan and who knows where else. I've checked the Ellis Island Records and find many Jarema's from the same town relocating to Boyne Falls around 1903/1905/1907. As I said, any information would be appreciated. Thank You!!

My husband is Roger Jarema (Troy, MI). Son of Andrew (recently deceased) and Gladys Jarema of Boyne Falls, MI. We are related to ALMOST all of the Jarema's in Boyne Falls.

Hi, My grandfather was Nikolai Mark Yarema (Jarema), born 2 Jan 1886 in Olkovitz, Poland/Ukraine (Kamenets-Podolsky Oblast). He came to Quebec, Canada in 1913 with his younger half brother Fredrick, and they both ended up in Port Huron, Michigan shortly thereafter. His parents were Andrew Yarema (Jarema) and Mary Freih (unsure of spelling). My mother tells me that he had two other brothers (musicians) that also came over, but she did not know their names and thinks that they stayed in Canada. Please let me know if any of this seems to connect with your family. Good hunting for your roots! Larry Mortimer

Hi Stan. I am sorry...I have never heard of a Bill Jarema. There are 3 different Jarema families in Boyne Falls, MI...so many that we are not related to.

Karen

Hi Karen,

I guess I assumed you and I are related there are few Jarema's I've ever met. and I have traveled extensively for the Govt. but never ran into any! Do you know any of those Jarema's you aren't related to? I have 2 brothers 2 sisters. Some still live in Grand Rapids. The brother is Dan we have not seen him in a while maybe he's up there. He's around 55 years old tall dark brown hair with a moustache. Our mother is 86 and failing so that's the reason I give you this in detail. We would like him to see her while she is alive. I would have liked to have known this as I was in town last October and was up north in Traverse City. I have resided in the Houston Texas area for the past 24 years. I am glad you reponded!

Hi again!

Sorry...I do not personally know any of the other Jarema's. There are a lot of them in Michigan...as a matter of fact...there is a lot of confusion over my name. There is another Karen Jarema that lives in Boyne City...we just built a place 6 miles away in Boyne Falls. She is the principal of the high school in Boyne City...but I do not know her personally.
I have never heard of a Dan Jarema...sorry I cannot be more helpful!

Have a nice holiday!

Karen Jarema
