I am searching for information on the family of David Scarborough of Edgecombe Co NC. He left a will that named his children. I am trying to locate the names of all his male grandchildren. I believe one of them may have been Addison Scarborough (c1780-1868). David did have a son named Addison Scarborough (c1755-1831), and I know all of the children of this elder Addison. David's son Addison Scarborough moved to Sumter Dist SC by 1780 and remained there until his death in 1831.

Due to the extremely close similarity of names of the younger Addison Scarborough's children, I think he is very likely a grandson of David Scarborough, but I just don't have information on the other sons of David besides Addison.

Also, I am trying to obtain information on Stephen Dunn of Edgecombe County NC. He was the son of John Dunn who died in 1793. What happened to this Stephen after 1805? Did he moved to Georgia?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you found any connection between the Scarborough and Tillett families in the mid-1700's?

Was David Scarborough's wife Sarah "Nancy" Dunn? If so Sarah was born abt. 1728 and died around 1775. She was married in Virginia around 1745. And her father was John Dunn, Sr. from Isle of Wight Co. VA. John Dunn Sr. died in Edgecombe Co.

My info for Timothy: Sarah "Nanny" Dunn was born in VA in 1728 although I did not know she died abt 1775. Yes, she did marry David Scarborough (1720@Edgecombe Co.,NC –
abt 1774, son of William and Sarah Scarborough) on 1745 in VA. I think Sarah and David may have lived and died in Edgecombe Co. but do not know. I will try to look up a Scarborough genealogy info I received one time from a distant Dunn. Please email me directly on since it is very rare I read posted messages like this.

William Tillett who dies in 1734 was married to Sarah Scarborough who had a brother Charles Scarborough. Sarah was the executrix of William's estate in 1734. This was in present day Dare County and the records are in Albemarle County (a defunct county in NC)

Thanks for your response. I have suspected that Sarah Tillett's maiden name was Scarborough but I have not found any proof. What proof do you have that she was.

William Tillett was dead by 4 Jul 1732.

Sarah Tillett was appointed Administratrix of William's estate on 4 July 1732. Sureties were Capt. John Norton, Charles (x) Scarborough (Charles Scarborough was from Pasquotank Co.) Witnesses were Otho Holland & Jno. Martyn. His estate was worth 150 pounds.

I had thought that William Tillett died in Currituck Precinct where his land was. [Albemarle County

I would also like to know who their children were, if any?

I would appreciate any info on early Tillett's.
