Although the time-frame may be similar, the Lydia KEILBERG who is my mother's cousin was born in the US, and married in WI. Is it possible that your Lydia was named for ours? We look carefully at any KEILBERG we encounter because it is a fairly scarce surname.
Earlier generations of our KEILBERGs have lived in PA, IL and WI, having immigrated from Burgstadt and the adjacent town of Burkersdorf, Saxony, in the mid- to late 1800's. Other locations for them, and the related families of BERGHANDLER, SCHENK, and FRANKE, are Dresden and "the other Frankfurt." Some of our fellow KEILBERG descendants in Chicago took the surname of their step-father, SCHARF.
Although we do not know of any Netherlands connection, it's still a possibility. We may also be related to some TX KEILBERGs, my current project.
Could you please contact me about the US location(s) for your Lydia KEILBERG? I would be happy to share whatever information might help you. Thanks, Barb G.

I noticed that you are researching Keilbergs in TX. My maiden name is Keilberg, I live in TX and I don't know too many others. My grandparents were Ed and Jessie and his father was Matthew Keilberg. My father is David. If any of this sounds familiar let me know.

It was so nice to hear from a TX Keilberg -- you are the only one to contact us so far! My gm was Augusta Emma Keilberg [b.1880 Germany - d. 1950 WI]; her parents were Wilhelm Ernst Keilberg [b. 1844 Burgstadt, Saxony d. 1917 WI] and Emma Augusta Franke [b.1846 Germany - d.1936 WI]. Wilhelm's father was possibly Friedrich or Christian Friedrich Keilberg.

Keilberg seems to be a scarce name in the entire US. As far as we know, ours in WI are related to any who lived in PA and in Chicago, IL.
The only others we have found are in TX. Looking at the earliest online stuff we could find, with 1st names Otto and Louis, a connection seems likely, but...I guess we need facts that actually, directly connect. Several TX Keilberg links I have tried are no longer operating, from searchable charts submitted to either Ancestry, LDS FamilySearch or Rootsweb. Have you had any response from them?
I also subscribed to some TX County and Germans-in-TX Rootsweb mailing lists for a while, very interesting and helpful.

A summary of our Keilbergs is on my sister Tracy's website, which I will send to you in my next message. Which TX Counties did your Keilbergs live in? We would be happy to exchange further information.

Good to hear from you. The beginnings of what we know about our branch of Keilbergs is part of my sister Tracy's website, which you can find at:
Click on the surname KEILBERG just below the top part. There are some photos which we would like you to compare to any of your own from the early 1900's...
We do have much more info, including photos of our KEILBERG cousins [one family had 3 sets of twins]. We know the town our KEILBERGs came from is Burkersdorf, now part of Burgstadt, in Saxony [Germany]. My impression is that the TX KEILBERGS may have come from the same town, but I need some solid evidence of that.
After I go over my notes, I will send you the basics of what I have found out about some TX KEILBERGs via several Rootsweb mailing lists, Bastrop Co., etc. I would love to have you fill in or correct any errors.
Our Mom (b. 1914) will be so excited!

I'm researching the Texas Keilberg's and would like to talk with you. My research began with my husbands gr-grandfather, Charles Louis Keilberg (went by Louis most of the time). His brother was Otto Keilberg who was the father or grandfather of the Matthew (Mathias) Keilberg you mentioned. Our Keilberg's came to Texas in 1836 according to census records for Charles and Otto. Would love to compare notes with you. Please email me Counties our Keilbergs were in: Austin, Fayette, Bastrop and Waller Co, TX.
