Permelia was born about 1838 in Scotts Bottom, Cumberland, Kentucky and died in Bell Co., Texas. She is buried in Pleasant View Cem., Troy, Bell, Texas. Sorry, I cannot help you, but perhaps you may have info that can help me. My great-grandmother was Mary Obedience Keen. I think that she was Daniel Claywell's niece. Do you know anything about her mother, Permelia B. Claywell (Keen)?

Permelia B. Keen was the daughter of John Peter Claywell and Obedience Shugart. She was born 13 Jan 1821 in Cumberland County, Kentucky and died 7 Sep 1898 in Cumberland Co., Kentucky and was buried in the Keen Cemetery on Vaughn Creek of Bear Creek. She married William H. Keen 17 Dec 1839 in Cumberland Co., Kentucky. She had the following siblings: Elizabeth V. Claywell (1822-1851) md. Sampson T. Keen, James Solomon Claywell (1824-1870) md. Elizabeth Hicks, William Keen Claywell (1826-1826), Jane H. Claywell (1827-1828), Joseph L. P. Claywell (1829-1833), Martha J.Claywell (1832-1840), John P. Claywell (1834-1837), Capt. Daniel W. Claywell (1836-1902) md. Permelia J. Claywell. This is a family that knew a lot of sorrow. Permelia B. Claywell's father (1794-1837) died of yellow fever in New Orleans, Louisiana on a trip to sell tobacco. John Peter Claywell's parents were Shadrach Claywell and Amelia Rush. The Permelia J. Claywell that married her brother Daniel was his first cousin who was the daughter of William Claywell and Maranda J. Scott.

If anyone can add to or correct any of this information I would like to hear from you. I have quite a bit more information on this family and of Permelia's husband William H. Keen. Contact me by email.
