Johan Holm

I need help finding Johan Holm. He was born in Sweden in about 1828. He is the father of a child with my Great Great Grandmother, Ane Marie Sophie Nielsen. His daughter is Johanna Augusta Nielsen, born 2 August 1854, in Knudsker, Bornholm, Denmark. Johanna's parish record of birth lists the father as Johan Holm, of Sweden, who is already gone.

Does anyone have ideas of how to find him in Sweden or know more about his family?

Have you made any headway with this? I have recently gotten into family history and this is where mine stops.
Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Matt

Hi did you hear back from the Original Poster? Not sure what you meant by the point at which you are stopped. Here's another message by the OP: "I am searching for Anna Marie Sophie Nielsen's husband or father of her child, Johanne Augusta Nielsen, born 2 Aug 1854. Also, whether she has any other children. Anna was born 14 Dec 1828 in Nyker, Bornholm, and her father is Peder Nielsen. Mother: Ane Lovise Kirstine Mogensen."

1860 Danish Census
Bornholm, Vester, Knudsker, Knudsker Skoledistrikt, et Hus, 57, FT-1860, C3462
Peder Nielsen 61 Gift Daglejer, Husfader Østerlarsker sogn
Ane Lovise Mogensen 63 Gift Hans Kone Norge
Ane Marie Sophie Nielsen 32 Ugift Deres Datter Knudsker sogn
Johanne Augusta Nielsen 6 Ugift Hendes Datter, på kost hos Husfaderen Knudsker sogn

Says Peder Nielsen was married, a day laborer, born about 1799 in Østerlarsker parish, Bornholm amt
Says Ane Lovise Mogensen was married, she's his wife and born about 1797 in Norway

The Danish State Archives online offers several options for finding information. Danish pastors kept track in the churchbook of families and persons who moved into and out of the parish. Parishioners - which was everybody - were supposed to register these moves. The lists aren't always complete lists, but I presume this was would the first place to look for further information about "Johan Holm of Sweden," as he does not show up in the 1850 or 1855 census (that is, not when searching on simply the name Johan Holm without variations). Another possibililty was that he may have been a seaman or other person who was in the area only briefly. Not finding him on a tilgangliste (arrival list) might indicate this is the case.

There's a Peder Nielsen age 2 in 1801 census in Østerlarsker, Øster, Bornholm
listed as son of Niels Jensen age 54 and Mette Sophia Jensdatter age 47. Birth places are not noted in this census year. Not conclusive evidence of "your" Peder's ancestry. Also written as Øster Larsker sogn (parish).
