I have Tilsons from the present into the early 1600's in New England. I am interested in the marriage of Ruth Tilson to Alva Bosworth on 21 Oct 1827 My Bosworth research is not as complete as my Tilson.

Any response will be appreciated, I will share what I have.

Thank you

We have several Ruth's in our direct lineage-but none that married in 1827-to a Bosworth, or anyone- Where was she residing at time. OUr family started out in MA in 1600's-some traveled to VT. In early 1800's our Tilsons were either still in VT. or moving into CT. I have some info. on Tilson from ENgland-to Plymouth, MA area, and then outward. E-mail me at to see if what we have may help each other. Thanks for the response

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I would appreciate any information I could get on Bosworths and Tilsons. Alva and Ruth Tilson Bosworth were my g.g.grandparents. I have a copy of their marriage license. Their daughter, AlmaAnn delaine Bosworth was my g.grandmother. Would she be a sister to Ruth, your g.g.grandmother?

Also, in Marietta, Ohio their is a museum called the Ruth Bosworth House. Would that be the same Ruth? I've never been able to figure that out.

I am interested in finding out where to get a Tilson genealogy, too.

I don't know what I would have that would help you, but I would be willing to share anything I have with you.

Thank you.

I am responding to a 12 year old email! I have this note about Jonathan Tilson...have you gathered more information in the meantime? Thanks, James Taylor

"Tilson is said to have come to Pittsford (139 miles from New Braintree) in the winter of 1812. He married February 8, 1813 & remarried in 1815 after the death of his first wife. He would have been 26 years old in 1812...He bought the Chester Leonard House at Pittsford on February 25 (probably 1813, not 1812, maybe just before or after getting married?) where he lived until he died at age 71 in 1858 .
