Sure hope you an help on my line. Seeking information on the birth, place, death and parent of Francis Laraway who married Mary Gozey. Believe they came into Vermont from Canada during the 1800's, but think they are of Scottish descent. They had at least two sons: Abraham and Frank B. Laraway who married Melinda Jacobs, both believed to be born in Canada. Thanking you in advance for any possible leads.

I am descendent of Charles Laraway who married Nancy Jane Drugg. His brother Leander married Nancy' sister Phoebe Drugg.
There was a younger sister Selina who married John Emmonds. This family came from the Johnson, Vermont area. 5 of these boys were involved in Civil War.

I have some info. Frank Laraway married Melinda Jacobs Oct 31, 1856 and they had 13 children. Frank, Jr, Dealia, Abraham, Fred, Wesly, Lucettie, Eddie, Willie, Lucettie, Nellie, Ella, Thomas, and Idella. Many died young. I think Abraham and Thomas ran the lumber operation in VT. I am doing research on my Laraway direct line.

Thomas and Frank originally owned and operated the saw mill and Thomas ran the store in Waterville, VT. After my grandfather Frank's death, Abraham ran the mill with Thomas. If this is your line, what are you seeking? Email me at

Both you and John are descended from Frank Laraway(b 1837) in Quebec, Canada. The records show that he was born to John and Mary Laraway, but I don't trust the records here in Johnson that much. The mill and store were in Waterville,Vt. The old store complex is still standing but the mill and dam are gone. Laraway Mountain in Waterville is there also. John mentioned a Francis Laraway. There was a Francis(b. 1817) in Canada. There was another Frank(b 1797)
but I can't find out much about him. I research only enough of the Laraways to find info on my great great grandmother Mary
Laraway. John's message to you was the answer i couldn't find in these record here. I have an old tintype of her. It's obvious she a Native American. When i have another day off I'll try to look up the names you wrote about.

Hello Phillip...Who is John????? Frank Laraway was born to Francis Laraway and Mary Goosey in 1797 in Broome, Canada or St. John, Canada, P.Q. I have not been able to locate the record. Frank and Melinda (Jacobs) Laraway are buried in the Waterville, VT Cemetery. Francis (Frank) Laraway (is buried in the Johnson Village Cemetery, first row far left as you are facing the cemetery), died June 2, 1888, age 91. There is a Mary, wife of Joseph Goosey, April 12, 1861, age 68 years. Possibly Mary (Goosey) Laraway's brother's wife. There are two stones facing Frank's stone that were the sons of C. and J. Goosey which I believe is Charles Goosey, brother of Mary. Mary Laraway, died March 15, 1807 is Mary Goosey, wife of Francis (Frank) Laraway. I believe that mary was born in Broome, Canada, but i can not locate record. In the very back of the cemetery is a large monument to Francis Laraway, 1817-1897 and his wife, Edna Ditoerix, D. June 28, 1893. I have not made a connection to this Francis?
I am unsure how your line fits in with my ancestral Francis and Frank. Please advise.
