When I read your posting, a chill came over me, especially after reading the year of death for the beloved Mollie Newsome (1955). My grandmother Ms. Azzie Newsome's mother's name was Olivia Newsome. My Great-Grandmother died in 1955 and that same year my grandmother and some family members left Prentiss, Mississippi head west. The planted a new life in the cities of Monrovia and Pasadena, California.

My grandmother told me that her family attend the Silver Creek Baptist Church.
Her mother was buried in the church cemetery.

I hope that was able to help. Please E-mail me as soon as you can. I am very much interested in discovering if we have some type of kinship.

I descend from Sheppards of Lawrence/Covington Co. I would be interested in trying to identify the Sheppard first husband of your Martha Newsom. Also, my Sheppard married Langston, and that family was allied with the Fortenberry family. I have many cousins from all lines, if you are interested in comparing data....... Lisa

Hi, I am trying to find a line on the Sheppards of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina, descendants and ancestors of Rev. James Jack Sheppard who is buried at Taylor Cemetery, Avery County, North Carolina. Most of his family were in Johnson City, Tennessee at one time. He is my g-grandfather, but I have lost contact with his family, can you help any?

No, Sorry. My Sheppards left NC 1780-1800, and I've never been able to connect them with any of the other Sheppards that stayed........ Lisa
