Hello;

I am looking for a birth date for Ralph E. DOWLING of the Machias, ME. area. I'm guessing that he was born between 1874 and 1880. He was the son of Warren and Louisa DOWLING. He died in 1891 but I do not know the location.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ralph Dowling was my GGrandfather's baby Brother. The Family was from Whiting Maine where they lived on the 100 acres deeded to Warren Lorring Dowling's Grandfather John Dowling who fought in the Revolution there. He Married Louisa Crosby who's father died early and her mother married Ramsdel from Lubec. Ida was the Oldest daughter after twins who died at age two (Buried between Warren and Louisa in Gardener Lake Cemetery on the same land). Jake was next born and went west to Mist Oregon, then my Great Grandfather born Joseph Edwin but went by Edwin, then Alley Bell (Cates) buried on the property died of Breast Cancer in 1909. Austin and then Ralph who was two years old when his mother Louisa died and he was raised by his sister Ida who was in her early 20's. Edwin and Jake worked in the woods and Edwin was a horseman. He came west to join Jake with his daughter Louisa in 1906 when my Grandmother Louisa was five. His wife Lucy came six months later with the other children, Warren, Bertha, Lorring and baby Edith. Ralph had a terrible drinking problem in later years and may have had post traumatic stress from WWI. I have family letter referring to it and how his wife Jeanie struggled.

Thank you for your response to my query about Ralph DOWLING of Whiting, Maine.
Your G-Grandfather, Joseph Edwin, was the brother of my G-Grandfather, Jacob Leroy Dowling! Jacob married my G-Grandmother, Anna Lindgren Quinn.

Are you still researching the DOWLING family? I have a fair amount of info now and quite a few pictures if you are interested.
