I am looking for information on my grandfather Charles Eccles Stuart (born 1877 in Hull) and his sisters Elizabeth Stuart and Margaret Eccles Stuart. I have located them all in Hull in 1881 Census living with parents James Stuart and Elizabeth (nee Rutherford) My grandfather then appears in the 1901 census aged 22. Any information on the sisters and the years 1881 - 1901 for my grandfather would be appreciated. Thanks Charles Stuart

Hi Julie, lovely to read your reply. All I know is that Susanna appeared on the 1881 census as a “nurse” living with James & Catherine (nee Rutherford) Stuart in Market Place Hull. It would seem that Catherine employed her sister Susanna as a nurse for their children, their parents were Frederick and Ann Rutherford. Fred died in 1904, in an institution in Hull, Ann Rutherford (nee Kelly) was from Dublin. James’s and his parents were from Sligo Ireland. I am happy to share access to our family tree with you, perhaps you could do the same with yours, as we have tried to trace the Rufferford family without much success?
Regards Charles

Hi Charles, thanks for your reply.I have not had much luck with the Rutherfords either.I have all the info on Susanna's life ,she married Harry Hildyard but died in 1889 from pregnancy/child birth problems.Frederick Rutherford is a mystery and I have had my DNA tested so at some time ,I'm hoping there maybe a breakthrough. After James dies, everybody seems to disappear for some years but I have found a Margaret Eccles Stuart in 1937 in Elland,Stainland. With such an unusually name,I think it points to our Meg ?My tree is open on Ancestry .Thanks Julie

Thanks Julie, that’s interesting, we hadn’t found Margaret there before. I’ve sent you an invite to view our ancestry tree.
We have a much more comprehensive tree on MyHeritage,
Charles
