Here goes, and I don't have a clue if these people are related. Hope you can help me too! Looking for Rose (or Rosaria) Garramone, Garamoni, Garamone, born in or around Laurenzana, Italy. She married a Motto, and they in turn had 4 daughters, Maria Theresia, (my greatgrandmother), born 1877, sisters were Dora, Annie, and Lottie.
I have been told this Rose or Rosaria had two brothers that came to the USA before she did, their names were Frank and Gerard. One was a harpist and the other played the violin. Maria Theresia was 11 when she came to the USA, Looking for any ship manifest with her registry, or any family information at all. I am told her father owned a flour mill in Laurenzana. Can this be of use to anyone out there.

I am a Garramone in USA

My grandfather Gaetanno Garramone came to the US from Potenza to Denver in the 1920s, then moved on to Youngstown, Ohio. We have lots of relatives still in Denver and in Toronto, Ontario, Canada as well.

Are you still working on your "Garramone"/Motto family line from Laurenzana? I have been working on my harpist/violinist gr grandfather from nearby Marsicovetere, and have been shocked at what I have discovered. Perhaps by now you have learned that "child musicians of harp and violin from Basilicata of late 1800's" are all big red flags as to the white slave trade of the time in Italian children, especially from Laurenzana. See book "Little Slaves of the Harp" on

Also, the name Motto is a huge red flag as being one of the most infamous padrones of those children, as covered by many New York newspapers of the day (readily available online). No doubt there were Mottos who were good guys, but that one was real baddie. Just spent a whole day reading about him and other padrones, so I was inspired to send you this note.

Hope your search continues well and fruitful.
