Looking for information on death records of Lydia (Mary) MONROE TAYNOR. She died in Monroe in 1884. She was the wife of Isaac Newton Dayton Taynor, mother of Isaac Lewis Taynor. We have her obit from the Custer Museum records but nothing else. We believe she may have also been born in Monroe. She is believed to have been full blood Indian from unknown tribe.

Also looking for any TAYNOR connection to the area, along with info on Charles and Gilbert Poupard, father and son in late 1800s. Charles' wife was Monica Coulay, daughter of Oliver Abner COULAY and Archange YAX, daughter of John Baptist Yax.

The Yax clan descend from Johannes Jacks and Catherine
Herbinne who eloped from Cologne, Gy via Rotterdam to
Philadelphia ca 1739 on ship Lydia. They were married at
Goshenhoppen, PA (He Catholic - she Lutheran) and set out
for a German settlement on the Mississippi. Captured by
Indians where the Scioto R. empties into the Ohio, they were
ransomed by the French Commandant of Fort Pontchartrain
(Detroit) who gave them land in todays Grosse Pointe. Cath-
erine converted to Catholocism as recorded in journals of
St.Annes historic church in Detroit. The clan extends from
Toledo to the Thumb. See the Burton Collection in the Detroit public library; the Mount Clemens Library; and the

I was touring the area from my son-in-laws post at the US
Army Hospital, Landstuhl, across the road from the USAF
Ramstein AFB. Kaiserslautern is on the rail-highway route
from Frankfurt to Paris. Archivist was courteous and
helpful but had no data on Jacks-Herbinne couple except what
he had received from an American genealogist in Virginia
who had died when I tried to contact him in 1991. Regret I
have no address of any kind for Archives.

I have a genalogy book of my family taken from the lineage compiled from the "Genalogy of the French Families of The Detroit Region. It states that one Catherine Herbinne married a Michael Yax. They were the parents of Cecilia Yax who married Louis-Michael Trombly.Could we be speaking of the same Catherine? Catherine would be my 6th gr grandmother.
