Hi Tracey,

I have done some research on the CArley family. My husband is descended from the Carleys from county Wexford in Ireland. Leonard Carley who married Catherine Campbell in St. Iberious Church, Killurin, is the earliest PROVEN ancestor. I think that Leonard MAY have been the son of Joseph Carley, but don't know for sure. Leonard's son John Carley married Eliza Boardman, before coming to Oz after she died?, and then married her younger sister Deborah Jane Boardman. John and Deborah Jane are my husband's great-grandparents.

Is there any connection to your Carley family? If so, I have a fair bit of info about them.

Look forward to hearing from you,

Hi Tracey,

I know that your post is an old one, but I just saw it and I see that you are still a member on Ancestry. My 4x Great Grandfather John Carley and his wife Mary Barton Carley brought their son over to the US from the Kent area in the 1830's, my 3x Great Grandmother was born in New York . John was stated as being born not far from Chatham England in 1794, he and Mary got married in Gillingham, and their son John jr. was christened in High Halstrow. Unfortunately I cannot tell you who John's parents are, nor if he had any siblings. I do know that John was apprenticed to a gardener and finished his whole 7 years, which also was mentioned in his obituary. I hope this helps a bit since I am still trying to dig. I am not sure how to go about seeing if there are records for his apprenticeship, but I figure I will find it eventually.
