I have just read you message and I am interested in finding Amy Ann Spenceley born Aug 08, 1905 in northern Michigan (?) died in Hazel Park, Mich. 12-5-80. SS#376-18-0670
Also has last name spelled as Spenely on some documents.
May have brother/cousin named Earl Spenceley (sometimes spelled Spencely) (mar Dorothy and had a son and a daughter). Unknown if other siblings
Married John Ivan MacDonald, Jr. from Canada. lived and died at 1219 Clarton in Petosky abt 1964 wintertime. (line appears to be from Ivan Angus or Angus Ivan from Canada) Amy and John lived on a farm in Levering, Michigan and later moved to Petosky, Mi. Approx 9 or 10 children only know of Betty, Emily, twins Edna and Ned (died at age 3), Claude (died young), Jack, and one or two babies died before they were 3 months old. Wayne and William Neil (wrong spelling on his last name on birth certificate, spelled McDonald, everybody teased him as being the only Irishman in a Scottish family.
William Neil is my stepfather so I know who his parents, brothers and sisters are.
Somewhere in the Spenceley lineage there is a Charles Hutchingson married to Naomi. I was told they were family by Amy (my stepgmother)
Amy worked in a hospital in the cafeteria in Petosky and while on the farm in Levering the family used to harvest cattails to sell to the government for the making of lifevests used by the US Navy. Farm also grew potatoes for selling.
Can you direct me further?

Hi Scott:

Nope. I'm afraid there isn't too much connection other than the surname. I am Bill Spenceley of Buckhorn [near Peterborough, or 100 kms. northeast of Toronto] Ontario. Stats? 75 [could that really be?], married to Marilyn and have 5 grown young people plus 9 grandchildren.

Hi Scott,
I knew a Billy Spenceley (spencley spencely) when I was a kid. My mother was Evelyn Gwilt. He was her cousin and he drove a Mayflower moving van. He would call when he was in town.
Was your great grandmother Madeline Mc Cumby and William Spencley? If so, Hello relative. We have a little history of the family, there are a few of us conversing on the web. Let me know and we can share with you.

If you are a Spenceley that's ancestors are William and Madeline Mc Cumby. They came over from Glamorgan Twp, Peterborough County, Ontario, Canada. You are in the area of Harold and Joann Spenceley. I have pages of famly tree.
To get the relationship clear, my mother was Evelyn Faye Gwilt, daughter of Mary Viola Alfreda Jane Spencley, daughter of William and Madeline Mc Cumby, son of William. I have more but I can't get to it now. My great grandfather was born in 1933, my grandmother born 1893, she was not a Spenceley by blood, but she was adopted by William. My Mother was born 1927, I was born 1950. Where does that put you in the tree?

I just found this message! Amy Ann Spenceley was my great grandmother. Her daughter, Emily, was my grandmother. I cannot offer much more information than that, but I know my father, Kim Eaton, has researched the family to great detail. If you are still interested, I can put you in touch with him in hopes of helping you gather more information. My Aunt Edna, one of Amy's daughters, passed within the last few years. Let me know, as I am excited to find as much information on this side of the family as possible. :)
