Hi, I am also looking for some information about my grandfather Ruben Thomas Layton. I believe he grew up in GA or somewhere in the south. He was a pilot in the Air Force during WWII. I know he was a single child. Do not know my great grandparents name but His mothers maiden name was Freeman. My grandfather Ruben Thomas Layton Freeman married my grandmother in Cuba. Her name was Lolita Samayoa. Their first born was my father Larry Thomas Layton, born in Key West FL. After his birth they moved to Guatemala, Central America. Can anyone help me with some information??!!

For Larry Layton:
Thomas Layton, born 1806, South Carolina, moved to Ga during gold rush. He and his wife Clarcie had 7 sons and one daughter. Two sons Hudson and Thomas Gaston Layton raised families in Douglas and Heard Co. GA.
Remainder of family moved to St. Clair Co. Alabama about 1859. One of Thomas and Clarcie's sons was my 2ggrandfather Lewis Rice Layton. His son Freeman Layton for my great grandfather. I have a family history if you want further info. My goodness a pilot in WWII. Sort of fits the family history.

Surnames: Layton
I obtained this information from the Layton family book by Fred Layton. Clarisey's maiden name was Elsberry. Do you have info on the parents of Thomas Layton?

Hi, I have the Elsberry name for Clarsy also, this came from Fred. What I am looking into is the following

Thomas Gaston Layton Sr or I married Sallie?
His parents Martha Anderson and Stephen layton
Martha Anderson's parents - Mary Gaston and John Anderson
Thomas G. Layton Sr was my GGGGGrandfather.
my line goes Thomas G Layton I, II, III, then Benjamin Reese, then Perry Thomas, then Otis Franklin, then me Jeannette Dean, called Dena. Does this follow anything you are looking into???? I have tried the Elsberry line and haven't gotten anywhere. Fred layton also thought her last name was Bush>
