My ggrandfather was Dempsey Barclift Jr. of Perquimans County NC. Ron Forehand >< has a web site about him, and also Paul Barclift >< has studied the Barclifts extensively.
I believe Ron's goes back farther then the 1700s.
Glad to hear from someone new.

My mother was a Barclift in Illinois. I live in Rockford, IL.

Her father, Whitfield Lee Barclift is a decendant of the Barclift/Durant line in Perquimans County, N.C..

Through the Watts Family website and Chute family website have learned that our line leads to William Barclift b. unknown, D. abt 1698 in Perquimans Co. He married Elizabeth and had two children, William II b. abt. 1677. d. abt 1749 in Perquimans Co. and Thomas Barclift.

William Barclift II married Ann Durant Oct. 6, 1698 in Perquimans Co. Ann was daughter of George Durant and Ann Marwood.

Any connections to your family? I don't remember seeing name Francis Evelyn Barclift in any of our ancestry lines.
