The funeral for Gattis Leroy Smith of Rockland County, N. Y., who died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004, in New York
following a brief illness, will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 20, in Cedar Grove Baptist Church by the
Rev. Jesse Timberlake. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Smith was a native of Person County, the son of the late Lazarus Smith and Christine Smith Lawson.

Surviving are his companion Mary Childs of Haverstraw, N.Y.; five daughters, Darlene McNeill, Rhonda Eurie,
Hester Eurie, Tracy George and Lynell Green, all of Haverstraw; a son, Floyd Eurie Jr. of Haverstraw; three
sisters, Norma Pettiford, Geneva Comer and Linda Green, all of Roxboro; three brothers, Alphonza Smith of
Roosevelt, N.Y., Otis Lawson of Spring Valley, N.Y., and Nataniel Lawson of Kernersville; 18 grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 19, at Cunningham & Nelson Funeral Home and at other
times at the home of his sister, Norma Pettiford, 209 Allgood St., Roxboro.

My dearest Gattis more than a father and and more than a companion to Mom, you were very understanding like a Father and a husband was suppose to be always the voice of reason. 8 Years it just seems like yesterday when The GOOD LORD took you away I miss you and think of you often. You are really missed love ya MS Tee and Ebola (ya know she is sorry Pampi I know you proably forgave her watch over her now from Heaven)
