Ann Jane Dickey, 23 years, died of consumption 23 Oct 1869, Clarke Tp, informant: Thomas Dickey of Clarke. # 002287.

The age is right for Ann J from 1861 census.

Theron Dickey [transcribed as Thevan], 75 yrs, b New Hampshire USA, died 17 May 1875 of [I think] pneumonia, 11 days. Informant: John C Mitchell of Newton, # 005615, Clarke, Durham & Northumberland.
The writing is a bit hard to read.

The name is down as Ballagh on all other records.

A word of explanation as to how I come to have this.First I answered a message board requesting info about the Wallace family and in gathering info for that request my friend , Clarke Twp. archivist Helen Schmid , and I put together this summary of Theron Dickey`s family. Helen has saved newspapre items for years . So using these and Agnes Burley`s book about Clarke we came up with this info. Hope you find it of value and interest.

They are distant kin.He was born in Ackworth,N.H.,his parents was Lt.James Dickey and Anna Gilmore.You can find them in the Hist.of Ackworth book.His grandfather was Matthew Dickey(was in the Revolutionary War)his grandmother was Janet Wallace(her parents were the first to marry in Londonderry,N.H.)

thanks for the further data. Now we see where the name Gilmore came in the second name of one of Theron`s sons. Had been wondering as I have Gilmores in Clarke who were related to me.

JAMES came to Acworth in 1790 - married Anna Gilmore, daughter of Col. James Gilmore of Windham,
in 1795 - died 1816. Although of small means, he had cleared and fenced (mostly with stone wall)
more than one hundred acres, erected comfortable buildings, and reared a large family of
children - all in twenty-one years - being one of the many such instances, showing the
industrious and persevering character of the early settlers of Acworth - children,
