If anyone out there has any information on a James Kerr who immigrated to Chester County, Pennsylvania in 1734 from Edinburgh, Scotland (he married a lady whose maiden name was Spears and they moved to Orange County, NC, eventually, where he is buried) I would be much obliged if you would share it with me. I am looking for his parents' names, especially.

Here's what I have: possible father of James Kerr b. 1680 d. 1770, also named James Kerr, from Glasgow/Edinburgh (poss.),died in Staunton, Augusta co. Virgina. I belive he may have come to PA before ending up in Augusta County.

Our James Kerr(my GGGG grandfather) also of Glasgow/Edinburgh b. 1710, d.abt. 1800 in Orange County, married Rowena (sometimes Rowan) poss. from Ireland. He must have been with his father James in PA prior to migrating to NC as his son, James(3rd)Kerr was born in PA, married Nancy Mitchell, from Maury County, TN (where I grew up).

This 3rd James, b. PA, died in 1818 in spring Hill TN (maury county) in 1818.

Andrew Marshall Kerr was the son of James 3rd, b. 1786 in Orange County, NC, married Clotilda Moreen and died 1864 in Columbia TN (town where I grew up).

Andrew Marshall Kerr was the father of Marshall Newton Kerr, b. 1833 Spring Hill, TN (Maury Co.), d. 1897, married to Mary Lousie Parks.

Jospeh Bee Kerr (my gr.grandfather) was the son of Marshall Newton Kerr, b. 1890, Park Sation, TN. d. 1776, ? TN ( I need to ask someone in the family about this one). He was married to Hattie? (we called her Mama Dorsey, whom NOBODY could stand!) and Marshall Bee Kerr married my grandmother (#1,living) and had 2 daughters, my mother and aunt (living). With #2, he had a son and a daughter (living) but son had no children, so that's the end of the male Kerr line for us. I can send you a gedcom ( not complete b/c I have just started). But I imagine one of the many siblings along the line are who you are looking may be in my gedcom.

For one thing your dates may be a bit mixed up. Ancestry has a marriage record for James Kerr & Rowan Spear in 1733. They also have immigration records. She came here in 1732 so they married in the US. Unless he left and came back he could not have immigrated in 1734 "after" they married. It had to be 1733 or before. There is an immigration record for him from an index but it does not specify the year. The port for both was Pennsylvania.

I am a descendant. I question though if this is "my" James Kerr as my dna shows no Scottish blood what-so-ever. Of course he could have lived in Scotland but not been Scottish.
