There are at least two groups of Skufca boys that came to America from Slovenia in the early 1900's. One group went to Colorado and the other went (or arrived in) Cleveland, Ohio. I say one group in Cleveland, however, of all my Skufca relatives in Cleveland, nobody seemed to know the other Skufca Clevelanders or how or if they were related.

Paula - I know of (at least) two Skufca families who settled in Cleveland in the early 1900's. My grandmother, Maria Skufca (b.1897)and siblings Stephanie,Joseph, and John, born to Martin Skufca (b. 1873 in Prevole, Hinje Parish, Slovenia) and Agnes Eppich. They are from Ebental Parish (Gottschee) and Hinje Parish (Slovenia).
Another group, was Michael Skufca (b. 1869 in Zvirce, Hinje Parish, Slovenia) and Frances Turk, children Alice, Frances, Michael, Joseph, Albina, and Sylvester(Jack).
Are you related to either of these?

Hello- I have been researching a baseball I have. The ball is signed by the 1951 Cleveland Indians as well as some other people. One of the other people is John F. Skufca. I was surprised to see on this website that there was a John F. Skufca from Cleveland. Can you give me any information about Mr. Skufca and why he would have signed an Indians team baseball? Thank you. Bill Henry

Hi Sierra - I think we have a connection. My g-grandfather was John J. Skufca, who appears to be brother to your Joseph. John married Mary Lotko and had 3 children. John and Joseph were born to John and Rose Skufca, who had 9 or 10 children.

I've got a bit of Skufca in my lineage. I am about the fifth John in a line of Skufca's going back five generations.

The furthest back I've got is Johan Skufca, and Johanna Skufca. Who came over from "Austria" which at the time included present day Slovenia. I'm just trying to figure out if we can find the town that they came from in Slovenia. Long Shot I know.

John and Johanna Skufca
John Jacob Skufca who married Jane Skufca who changed their last names to Stark after they had four boys.

who had John, Ralph, Richard, and Donald Skufca.
