I hope the following is helpful. Fr. Hehir used to visit my family (O'Hares - Clare to Boston in 1845). My father (deceased)mentioned him to me a few time over the years, and an uncle (now in his early 80's) remembers him. He was reportedly a first cousin of my great grandfather, Joseph O'Hare (1850-1917). Joseph was born in Boston, but his parents both emigrated from Ireland in 1845. Joseph's father was Michael O'Hare (1817-1883), son of John and Mary O'Hare of Kilfidane, Killadysaret, Co. Clare. His mother was Mary Halloran also believed to be from Clare. How the first cousin linkage occurs is unclear, but it's most likely we changed the Hehir spelling somewhere along the line. Another source of information who might provide you further Cunningham-Hehir links is a Fr. Cunningham born in Clare now stationed in Edmonton Alberta. Fr. Cunningham was born in Co. Clare.

Thank you B. O'Hare for your information. I keep in touch with Fr. John Cunningham, who is the cousin of my late husband. His father and my father in law were brothers.I am in the process of researching the cunningham family tree.

I believe that Father Hehir was a cousin of my grandmother, Margaret O'hare (O'Haire) Custy. He was President of Holy Ghost College connected to the university. I have been told that he had a very complete family genealogy. My grandmother came from County Clare Ireland. My grandmother's Mother's name was Hastings. I believe they changed the spelling somewhere along the line. Please contact me with any information you have.

My sketchy records show a cousin by the name of Bill Cunningham. I think he had 10 children. I don't know any of the names but this may fit into your family. Maybe we are related.

Eileen,
My grandmothers, Mother was named Hastings. Other names that I have found are Jack Hinchey and Tiernan. I don't know if any of these will mean anything to you or not. My Grandmother had several siblings, Catherine Duane, Bridget, Stephen, Sommerville, Mass., Simon, from near Boston, Martin, and Joohn David. I don't know if any of these names will help you or not. Just thought I would take a chance, as I am not having much luck tracing my Dad's side of the family.
