Hello everyone,
I am not a Durgan/Durgin researcher. I have found a very short article in a local newspaper about Millie Durgan, white captive of the Kiowa Indians for 70 years. She did not know her true identity until 3 years before her death. There was included a picture. This was in the Capitol Hill Beacon, Oklahoma City, OK, Dec 20, 2001. This is a weekly newspaper. If anyone is interested in Millie, I can copy and mail to any of you who want it. I hope Millie belongs to someone out there.
Sincerely,
Joyce House-Reeves
Oklahoma City, OK

Millie Durgan was my gg aunt and she along with her sister Lottie Durgan (my Ggrandmother) and their grandmother Elizabeth were captured by Kiowa Indians in the Elm Creek Raid in Texas in 1864. If you have any information or news paper articles I would greatly appreciate a copy of what you have. Thanks Jim Hewitt

I was looking through the sites about Millie Durgan. She is my great, great grandmother. I can remember granpa talking about his grandmother and it was her. My moms maiden name is Goombi. We are always looking for information about her. I dont know if mom has the picture that you have, i am sure she does, but it would be nice to have. Thank you so very much.

Ms Millie Durgin was my Great, Great Grandmother of which I and many of my cousins learned about from my Grandpa Dewey, my mother is a sister to Wesley Sloans mother, who are the daughters of Dewey Goombi - The Goombi family has and always will honor this special lady because after all she is where we "the Goombi family" have come from...

Hello Joyce,
If it is possible I would really appreciate a copy (photocopy, attached e-mail document or scanned image) of the Capitol Hill Beacon, 20 December 2001 with the Millie Durgan story. I am studying similar European living with Australian Aboriginals and the article would be of benefit. I am happy to pay you for postage or whatever costs are involved.
Many thanks,
Peace,
Michael MacLellan Tracey
