I may have some information for you. I received this from someone who submitted their family tree to the Mormans. It turns out his wife is my second cousin once removed.

1. PAUL FABER was born in Freiburg, Baden, Germany. Came to the US 5 Nov 1854 and settled on a farm at Ashton, Dane county, WI. He married a woman named MARY. I have no further information.

Children of PAUL FABER and MARY are:
i. JOSEPHINE FABER born 5 Oct 1837 in Freiburg, Baden, Germany. Died 28 Sept 1909 in Cross Plains, WI. Spouse GEORGE ACKER. Married about 1860. I have much more information on this line. Josephine was my great-great grandmother.

ii. PAUL FABER, Jr. I have as born 1841. The information I received says that he fought in the Civil War, farmed in Nebraska and Wisconsin, and had a large family.

Do you think this is who you are looking for?

I am a descendent of Caspar Hilgers. The first Caspar Hilgers was born 15 Nov 1815 in Butzheim, Germany. He married Catharina Pottgen 5 Jan 1837. Caspar died 23 Feb 1882 in Sand Creek-Jordan, Minnesota. Catharina died 24 Apr 1901 in Sand Creek-Jordan, Minnesota. Their first child Johann was born 18 Apr 1837 and died 3 Mar 1838.
Subsequent children were:
Gerhard b. 31 Aug 1838 d. 29 Oct 1912 in Minn.
Werner b. 29 July 1840 d. 31 Jan 1905 in Wis.
Margaretha b. 23 Sept 1843 d. 17 Aug 1845 in Germany
Anna Gertrud b. 20 Mar 1845
Eva b. 12 Mar 1847
Anna Maria b. 6 Nov 1848
Gertrud b. 12 Mar 1853
Sibilla b. 5 Feb 1855
Martin b. 13 Sept 1856
Peter b. 4 Feb 1859

Werner married Christina Ziegler 6 Apr 1869. The paperwork I found in Madison says that she was born in Horn, Germany. But I have been in contact with someone whose source says Horrem. So that is undetermined at this time.
Children of Christina and Werner were:
Casper b. 2 Jul 1869
John b. 7 Oct 1872
Mary b. 22 Sept 1875
Theodore J. b. 5 Feb 1877
Martin K. b. 7 Dec 1878
Katharina b. 17 Nov 1880
Mathias b. 5 Apr 1883
Adelaide b. 4 Apr 1883
Elizabeth b. 4 Apr 1886
Peter J. b. 2 Aug 1888
Anna G. b. 6 Mar 1891

I am currently researching the Nettesheim-Butzheim, Germany records. Caspar's parents were Gerhard Heiligers (the way Hilgers was spelled prior to 1815) and Christina Broichhausen.
Other siblings of Caspar (b. 1815):
Anne Catherine b. 10 Jan 1814 d. 16 Feb 1814
Anna Margaretha b. 14 Sept 1818
Anna Chatharina b. 9 Dec 1821

Thank you for your reply to my sister, Helen Gerber's note.
She passed away in September of 2004 of breast cancer that overtook her body. One of my friends noticed this on the roots web.

I have forwarded your reply to my brother, Peter J. Riphahn, Jr. also. He has travelled to Germany quite a few times to vist and trace roots. I have been there only once. His E-mail address is:

My Great grandmother who had 4 children married a Doll after my great grandfather passed at the age of 36.

My brother has most of the information on this so hopefully he will reply to you.
