I'm looking for my grt.-grand father Maru (Malu)Amaru. He's a Tahitian, arrived in Sapapali'i Savai'ii Samoa abt.1830. He is one of the 8 teachers Revr. John Williams brought with him fromTahiti, to helped spread the LMS church in Samoa. Some of the teachers returned, but Malu (Maru) didn't.
Maru married Finau Luka, a daughter of Leilua & Niupopo of Manono. Their only son was named after him, Malu IIMaru). He was later known as Tauvao Malu, a Samoan title name in the villiage of Faaala Savai'i. Tauvao Malu married Fa'ataualofa Aualiitia, daughter of Ma A. & Afaisola Lagaaia. Tauvao Malu died abt. 1885. He also have 1 son which is my father, Laulu Tulali of Faaala Savai'i.
If anyone knows any kind of information about these early Polynesian Pioneers, please be kindly send to my email above.
Fa'afetai tele lava.

Did he arrive on the ship 'Endeavor'? Am also searching for ancestor from Tahiti; supposedly shipwrecked on Savaii during that time. Tahui met a woman, Lagi, from Manua; matai title SAVEA; had last child, Ana, back on Savaii.

Just a word of advice. Have you had a DNA test done? I am looking for my Great great grandfather who is of Polynesian descent. It's unlikey that you will read this since I haven't seen you reply back on here in Ancestry but it's worth a shot.

Anyway, I am searching for my Great great grandfathers side of the family who was adopted into a Hmong family. This is around late 1800's or estimated early 1900's in Laos where all the kings were fighting for the royal kingdom.

I don't know, but it was rumored he was of a Laotian prince, however he must have been mixed with Polynesian descent as well.

The fact is I've gathered all this information and my DNA leans towards Polynesia. MOST LIKELY MY G G GRANDPA is of polynesian decent (Either his parents or one of them “mom or dad”) whom have immigrated from Asia somewhere, or the Polynesian islands such as (Hawaii, Tahiti, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Micronesia, Easter Island, New Zealand, etc...) to Laos.

He was a descendent of Polynesian parents who immigrated to another part of Asia, the perhaps Laos.

This is a picture of my grandfather. I hope there is resemblance for any family out there who is searching for this side of the long lost family 4/5 generations apart.

I am researching my husband's family and his great grandfather is Tauvale Mulitalo and is from Saluafata. I am wondering if you found some information on your family and if, by chance, Taovale and Tauvale are the same person...maybe we just have the wrong spelling.

Thank you for your help,

Jodi Mulitalo
