I'm interested in finding anyone out there who might be researching or have researched the old mining town of Victoria Mines, ON. I have two sets of maternal great grandparents who settled there after immigrating to Canada from Italy in the time period between 1904 and 1910. TASSO, TONELLO, TRACANELLI, CANTATORE, BOERO& PIERINI are pertinent names. There are many others.

I would be most interested in knowing where the Tracanelli and Pierini families came from. Udine?

I'm sorry I don't know the exact answer to that question. That was one of my choices of two that had been impressed on me by family still living. I do know that the Tracanelli family is the only one that came to Ontario. There are still many descendants. I am having difficulties with tracking them at immigration. I'm not positive of the Pierini family.

Are you researching the area?

I thought there were Tracanelli families in the Britt area. Additionally, there were Pierini in Creighton and Lively ON
Rinaldo Pierini, son of Giuseppe and Enrisa Baseci (spelling?) married Maria Tracanelli, daughter of Francesco and Rosa Tondo in Sudbury 22 April 1912. This marriage is in the Ste-Anne-des-Pins repertoire, but the couple are listed as Rinaldi Perini and Maria Fracanelli. I may have Rinaldo's obituary somewhere, but I do not know where they were from.

Additionally, there is a mention of a Sam Pierini in an article on early Italians in Copper Cliff. This Sam moved to the Timmins area. I am not aware of any link to Rinaldo. I have wondered where they came from. My guess have always been Fano or Udine, but I really have no clue.

This family is the correct family. You are an angel in disguise. Can you tell me of how you came to study these folks? Are you connected in some way?

Yes there were Pierini's in Creighton and Lively, ON. Laurence Enzo Pierini lives in Lively presently but they came from Creighton. Apparently they worked in the mines for many years. He is the son of Mary & Rinaldo.

Mary and Rinaldo had aproximately 21 live births I am told. Have not had much luck pinning down info.

Can you tell me where I might find the article on early Italians in Copper Cliff?

I will tell you my connection. Francesco (Frank) TRACANELLI and Rosa - whom I had yet to discover her maiden name were my great grandparents. I know they came to Canada about 1904. They came on a ship that carried cattle. Apparently that ship was disabled in transit by a whale's tale. I know that Primo - who was my grandfather and sister Mary came with them. Another sister Onorena was born here in Canada. Little things come back to me as I think of them. Would really like to get into a discussion with you. Are you on ICQ? This is really exciting news.

Maria Tracanelli is my great grandmother she gave birth to several children up to 22 I've heard. My grandmother was born Margurite "Rita" Teresa Pierini June 13, 1920 my grandmother passed on May 3 2010 at 89 years of age in Edmonton Alberta. I didn't know my grandmother well and didn't know a lot about her family but am interested in finding out more..

I found this link http://www.northernlife.ca/obituaries/PIERINI,_Lawrence_Enso... tells of Enso or lawrence Pierini and his passing last year.

I'm aware of siblings in Ontario and possibly some in the USA? I would really like to contact anyone that possibly has more info.

Here's a link for another child of Rinaldo Pierini and Mary Trechenelli (http://yourlifemoments.ca/sitepages/obituary.asp?oid=888190).

I currently haven't found a connection with this Pierini to the one in my mother-in-law's family tree.
