Looking for information on Henry S. Lipscomb, a lawyer in Palmyra, Marion Co., born in VA in 1824; his wife Martha E. Maddux, born in VA in 1827. They married in Marion Co. on 10 Oct 1848. Children, all born in MO, were: Amelia, born 1849; Ann, born 1851; Thomas W., born 1853; William S., born 1855; and Lucy, born 1858.

I am primarily interested in William Stapleton Lipscomb who married Jimmie Andrews, 1863-1939, daughter of James Lindsay Andrews, d. 1862, and Caroline Thomas Andrews.

Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Went to the library in Palmyra and found a H. S. Lipscomb burial plot with James d. 11-12-39 age 75
and Albertine d. 11-24-24 age 49. I assume to be 1939
and 1924. New Greenwood cemetery
In the Old Greenwood cemetery was a M. S. Lipscomb plot, probably a typo, with,
Henry Singleton Lipscomb 1821-1899
Martha E. b. Fauquier Co. Va. Jan. 24, 1828-Sept. 20
1866
Rebecca Lipscomb d. 1831? 18 yrs 9 mths
Mary Arua
Lucy M.
These names were on a large spire that is broke in 3 pieces and on the ground. Some of it is unreadable, but,
I'll get the caretaker to help roll it over to get all the info.

Went back to the library and found two other Lipscomb burial sites.
One is a Nannie E. Jan. 13, 1852-Oct. 16, 1878 w/o
Abraham Slingerland Feb. 11,1837 - Mar. 3, 1883
Ethel dau/o A & N. E. Slingerland d.Sept. 1878 2 mths. ? ties to Nannie's death in Oct.
This info was on a spire stone with Lipscomb on the lower base and Slingerland on the next tier. He was a Judge in Marion Co. and there is a sub-division named Slingerland. This is Sect. 18 Lot 6. Also shows
a James. Albertine and Henry buried here.
The other site is Sect. 32 Lot 6 Has a LARGE square
stone with Lipscomb on top and in the middle is
Susan Sinclair 1868-1955 w/o H. S. Lipscomb 1828-1911. Also there is a Large cross stone with Hull on it
which is offset to the large stone. There are two individual stones Susan Lipscomb1868-1955 and Henry Burke Hull 1870-1925.
Wondering about the two different death dates for H. S.

It is beginning to look like Henry was married twice; his first wife was Martha Maddux and I believe (without my notes here at the office) that she died in 1866. I have seen Susan but had just not paid any attention to it. Now I'll go back and revisit.

Thanks so much for your help; it is greatly appreciated.

I have been helping a friend research her Lipscomb family. Henry S. Lipscomb ( born about 1821 in Virginia) was married (about 1867)to a Susan (born about 1830 in Kentucky) and they had 2 daughters, the youngest one was named Susan born in Feb 1870. She married a Henry Burke Hull (about 1898) and they had one child named Susan Sinclair Hull or just Sinclair Hull. I am wondering what Henry Lipscomb's middle name is and if you have any information about his parents.
Thanks for any information.

Was at the Cemetery office this morning and found
the burial list for the Slingerland plot. I think I told you that one of the Lipscomb girls married a Slingerland.
Lot 6 Sect. 18
A. Slingerland
Nannie L. "
Ethel "
Henry S. Lipscomb
James H. Lipscomb
Albatine M. "
Don't know if they may have moved Henry across the road or what. They were having a funeral at the new
cemetery, so didn't go check the Slingerland stone.
