John W. Pierce, 55, of Burlington, PA passed away Saturday morning, June 25, 2011 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. John was born in Troy, PA on May 12, 1956 the son of the late Carl and Adelaide Hulslander Pierce. He was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1974 and Williamsport Technical Institute in 1977 where he received his education in electrical technology. He was employed by Global Tungsten & Powders, formerly GTE Sylvania for 32 years. John enjoyed computers, electronics, animals and jet skiing. He is survived by his son, Kassidy Benjamin of New York City; and Brother, Larry Pierce of Burlington, PA.; an aunt; an uncle; and several cousins. Special friends are Jackie Wiley, Ann Wiley and her children Brittany Belaccio and Dylan Wiley. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home 217 York Ave. Towanda, PA. The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills, PA. Note: HULSLANDER M. Adelaide PIERCE, 74, widow of Carl R. Pierce of Burlington, PA passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2000 at her home following a period of declining health. Born March 5, 1926 in West Burlington, PA she was a daughter of the late Alfred A. and Esther Weed Hulslander. Adelaide was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1945. In 1949 she married Carl R. Pierce who preceded her in death in May 1983. In earlier years Adelaide was employed by GTE Sylvania and Remington Rand in Elmira. She later returned to GTE Sylvania in Towanda where she was employed for twenty years until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church, Sylvania Women’s Club, Troy Firemen’s Auxiliary, Pomona Grange and the Troy Area Senior Citizens. Surviving are her sons, John W. Pierce of Burlington, PA and Larry D. Pierce of Burlington; sister, Edith Hulslander of Lakeland, FL; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Richard Morell of Albuquerque, NM; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Marjorie Hulslander of East Smithfield, PA; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many good friends. Funeral services were held at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home in Towanda on April 1 with the Rev. Barbara Troxell officiating and interment to be in the Bradford County memorial Park, Luthers Mills.
