Hi christy,
how have you been? this is your cuz lynn layfield
percy layfields girl.remember me?
so your trying to find out about granny layfield to!
i havnt had time to do much on granny, but she told me storys about cherokee blood from tenn.did uncle slue tell you any storys i havnt heard about? need direction to go in. I think granny layfield grew up in shelby co. al.she told me about gathering these sparling rocks as a girl and selling them for a quarter a snuff box full.well did some geology research and
shelby co. is the only spot in alabama that has quarts in it.
She also said her mom came from tenn in covered wagon as a girl and her grandma was part cherokee from tenn.
I think i was the only child of percys that asked about any family history as a child, and i always loved her old things in her trunk!!!!! I remember seeing THOMAS JEFFERSONS photo as a child. It was very old and he had a very long handle bar mustache , thats our ancester on the layfield side.
made a lot of contacts on the layfield but none on granny layfield yet. email me if you want ok,maybe we can team up on this one.
lynn
