I would be interested in ANY information involving the COMBS Family. As you will see I have the families of "Danger Nick" and "Soldier John" elsewhere on my home page. Hope to hear from you. JPD

My email address correction is tjnapier@som-uky.campus.mci.net and my book is in the Perry County Public Library genealogy section. It is The Williams and Napier Families of Southeastern Kentucky. Ask them to see the book by Bonita Williams Napier. It is not in print so it may only be viewed in the library. I hope you find it helpful.

Do you have any information on Green B. Williams, who was born and died in Cordia, Perry County, KY? His dates
are 18 FEB 1865 - 9 JAN 1949. His father was James WILLIAMS, and his mother's maiden name was RICHIE.
Also, do you know of anyone who could look for his obituary and/or supply the name of the local newspaper for that time and location? I live in Ohio and cannot get down there. I am also looking for anything about Elijah WILLIAMS, born in 1860.

Dear Mr. Williams--
You said that your grandfather James WILLIAMS was born in Breathitt County in 1860. Did he have any brothers named Elijah C. or Green B. Williams? I have heard that Elijah's father was born in Perry County, and that Elijah was born in Breathitt County. Thanks in advance for any information.

I would appreciate receiving additional information on the WILLIAMS family. I am also a member of the Perry County Genealogical and Historical Society -even though I've never been in Perry County. Our research indicates a link to John WILLIAMS and Rebecca COMBS through the son of Pleasant WILLIAMS and Prudence SOUTHWOOD - John Wesley WILLIAMS.
My grandfather, James E. WILLIAMS, was the son of John Wesley WILLIAMS and Louisa COPE and was born in Breathitt County KY on 5 Jan 1860. The family moved to Arkansas around 1869.
Any information that you care to share will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Jim Williams

Dear Ms. Napier-
Did your Green Berry WILLIAMS have a brother named Elijah Charles WILLIAMS? All I know is that my Elijah had a brother named Green. I have a death certificate for a Green B. WILLIAMS who was born in 1865 and died in 1949. He was born, lived, died, and was buried in the same place: Cordia, in Perry County, KY. Again, I don't know if this is the right Green or not. The person on this death certificate sounds like a different Green from yours, but either could be the brother of my Elijah. Here is my line as I have it so far. I just started, so it's short: My husband
Matthew Franklin WILLIAMS, is the son of Vern Franklin WILLIAMS, who is the son of Rufus Anthony WILLIAMS, who was the son of Elijah Charles WILLIAMS. Elijah, so they say, was born in Breathitt County, but there's a possibility it was Perry. Elijah's father was supposedly born in Perry County, possibly in or around Hazard. I have looked at the 1850 Perry County Census, but Elijah wouldn't be on there because he was born in 1860, and I don't know his father's name. I live in Ohio, and cannot get down there to look at later censuses, so right now, I am pursuing what clues I can find. Thanks so much for responding to my post. Perhaps we can find a link, or perhaps you can help me eliminate a false lead! Elaine Williams

They had a son John Wesley WILLIAMS (b 1832). John Wesley married Louisa COPE in Breathitt County KY. My grandfather,James E. Williams was born 5 Jan 1860 in Breathitt County. John Wesley and family moved to Franklin County Arkansas in 1869. We have in our family records a letter from Pleasant - in Perry Co. - to John Wesley in Arkansas written in 1882.
