Do you have the names of the 6 kids and info on their children? I am looking for info on Jemima Dodd (no birth or death dates) who married James Cook. Their only child that I have info on was born in 1880. 1810 is too early for Jemima, but one might be her dad. Any infor would be appreciated!

My gg-grandfather, Marvel Isenus Dodd, was the son of a Solomon Dodd and Susan Crumpton. We have not been able to find any info on these parents other than their names on one document that Marvel I. listed them as his parents (no dates or other info though). If your info connects, I would really appreciate the help.

We tend to think Solomon W. Dodd was the son of Solomon Dodd Sr. Solomon Jr. was born abt 1778 in Delaware according to the 1850 census of Monday twnshp, Perry County Ohio. We based This connection on the below record (probably from the Sussex County recorders office):

Book F P. 225 G.79

1796.11.23 Solomon Dodd died in intestate leaving a widow Hannah (Carey?) and 11 children.

Zane Rynolds
Jane Steel Married Willima Steel 1783.9.11
Hannah Reed
Comfort Reed
Keziah Wilson Married Thomas Wilson 1784.3.2

Solomon W. Dodd married Rhoda Reed in Farifield County Ohio on July 2 1816. Soon after that, Fairfield County was split up and Perry County was formed as a result. It's likley that Solomon's sisters (Hannah and Comfort) married into the same Reed family. There was a James and Rhoda Donovan Reed that had a daugter named Rhoda Reed in Sussex Delaware. Not sure if it's the same Rhoda.

I have seen some records that indicate that this Solomon W. Dodd was Solomon Wesley Dodd that had a father Jonathan Dodd and Mother Jemima. I don't think that is correct because Jonathan goes back to the New Jersey Dodd's. This Solomon was clearly from Delaware according to the 1850 census. At least two of Solomon's brothers also had son's named Solomon (George and Nathan). And Solomon W. Dodd also had a son named Solomon...It can be confusing.

Hope this helps,

Scott Russell
