I am presently researching two branches of the Seery
family that emmigrated to Australia in
1... 1830's
2... 1860's

The naming line in both instances were Michael, Thomas,
Patrick etc for males and Bridget, Mary, Catherine for
the females

I estimate over 1,000 Seery's in Australia
spread over the continent

The information I have on Ballymore (note spelling) is that which was internet sourced from the Church of the Latter Day Saints and included
Catherine x2, Daniel, Ellenor, Francis, James x 2, Jane, Margaret, Mary, Patrick

The surnames of the mothers were Coughlan, Farrell, Moran, Malone, Price, Carty

My grandmother came to the U.S. from Moate in Westmeath around 1900. She listed her mother as MARY SEERY and her father as Frank
Aspin (or Aspel). She married Arthur DeVeau in New Jersey.

My inquiries centre around my great grandfather Thomas and his (apparent) brother Michael children of Michael Seery (c1808)and Ann Cowley of Westmeath

These two left Ireland in 1860/61 arriving in New South Wales Australia and creating a large family

A second Michael Seery born c1808 also had children Thomas and Michael (arriving 1833) and the son Michael also raised a large family in an area of New South Wales Australia not physically far from that of my ancestors
(ie) about 100 miles. Michael c1808 also came from Westmeath Ireland. A number of his descendents spelt their surname SEARY and went from New South Wales to Queenaland in Australia.

Your inquiry might suggest you are researching a generation after that which I am so I am presently unable to provide any information

Good Luck

Hi Terry, My name is Mark Seery. Michael Seery was my great, great grandfather.

How were you able to establish the 1808 date?

Michael had sons Michael and Thomas. Thomas had a will which made mention of a brother named John. Do you know anything about this brother?

Also feel free to contact me at:

The Thomas you mention was my great grandfather. I also am wondering where the brother John (mentioned in the will) comes from as I have no information of his family other than he and Michael were the sons of Michael Seery and Anne Cowley of Westmeath IRELAND. I am aware that Anne Cowley was christened in Dublin Ireland.
Please note there were many Michael Seery's to complicate our research

I'm trying to find a connection to my grandmother, Margaret Seery, born 1862, daughter of Owen and Catherine. She came to the states and married my grandfather, John Francis Mulligan in 1890. I have established that John Mulligan was from Ballymore, Westmeath and I think Margaret may have been, too, but so far no luck confirming this. Any possible connections with anyone??? Thanks
