Hi Emma,

Which country do you live in (this helps to work out where you fit in the family tree).

The name WENBAN (earlier it was WENBOURNE, WENBORNE, WENBORN etc) comes from Waena's Bourne, meaning Waena's stream. There is a property in Wadhurst in Sussex of this name, and either the family took the name from the property or the property took the name from the family. The family name is found in Wadhurst and neighbouring Mayfield as early as 1295.

Hi Emma,

I haven't had any luck yet in locating you or your father in my database - do you know your grandfathers name, and preferably great-grandfather etc etc?

Regards
Jenny

Hi Emma,

Any dates (esp birth) - even approximate ones - would also help. You or your Dad can feel free to contact me directly if you like and we can keep at this until we work it out!

Regards
Jenny

Hi Emma,

My oldest son Martin Wenban lives in East Farleigh, just outside Maidstone and has a full copy of the UK family tree hanging in his dining room! This has been created from my Uncle Archie 's and great uncle Donald's researches which forms the bedrock of all family records including extensions into America and Australia etc., My wife and I are 'house sitting' from next Sunday while he takes his family skiing in France and I could bring my key record books with me if you would like to consult them. Meanwhile you can call me on on 01449 781095.

Regards,

Peter Wenban

Hello Peter,

Sorry for butting in, but I have Wenbans in my family (and grew up, coincidentally, in East Farleigh). Is Alice Wenban, who married James Hollands, one of yours?

Regards,

Andy Ledger
