Not likely she would have traveled in 1914 as that was the year WW I began.

There are 9 WARZILEK found in ship manifests all arr in 1922-23.. there is an Emerika arr 1922 but she was only 16

Hello,

Robert Jerin is right with WW I, but I think war began in summer (August?) so there *was* a chance to travel before that date ...

Maybe www.herold.at (with it's English language option) might help you further since you don't seem to have a detailed address, just Villach. At that time any vital records were kept with the Catholic church only, meaining you must know the parish.

Anyhow, there are about 14 Warzilek listed, a few of them in Carinthia. Maybe writing a few letters would halp.

Dear Alex, I don't much more about my grandmother's family ,only that her mother Maryanna was adopted and married two times and had children by both husbands. The second husband also had children. When they came to America they changed the z to s. She had one sister who came to the us Mary and her two sons Karl and Earnest. Her daughter Emmaricka (my grandmothers name also). i don't know too much else but Karl changed his name to Charles and only died a few years ago. Sorry I didn't talk to him before his death, he was 98. Maybe you fill me in if we are related. Barbara

WW1 started on 4th or 14th (I think the 4th - cannot check immediately!) August, 1914.

Ok, maybe if we all put our two cents in. I am doing research for my cousin. Her Ggrandmother Emily Warzilek b. abt 1907/1908. She claims she came in through Ellis Island about 1922. I did find her as Emerika and the date she gives leaving from France. She tells me she had to have her name changed before they would let her leave Ellis Is. As Emerika sounded to much like where she was coming too. She said that her grandmother told her she was the illegitimate child of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Anyone hear this story???

when i read postings here in the forum about Austria-Hungary i wonder more and more HOW MANY illegitime children the Habsburg-family had....not sure, if there was often some family-gossip. :o(

i also wonder which name Emerika would be, never heared such a name. maybe a misspelling. sounds also not slovenian.
think shipmanifest shows this place in present Slovenia as here place she came from - it´s south of Villach in Austria not far away about the border now - click right above on "Karte" to get the map and scrollup or down with mouse or traw down the map with the mouse for finding Villach north of it:
