I'm not having much luck, Kim. This is about the closest I can come although the name of the wife and some of the names of the children are different but some are the same and the ages are about right. So thought I'd send it to you. Thought there might be a chance that the "W" in George W might stand for Washington.
1870 census, District 10, McMinn County, Tennessee, Page 15
Washington Brown, 50, Farmer, Tennessee
Nancy, 36, House Keeping, N. Carolina
Robert, 16, Tennessee
Hugh, 14, Tennessee
Maggie, 11, Tennessee
Josiah, 8, Tennessee
Nancy, 8, Tennessee
Martha 3, Tennessee
Mary Robinson, 16, Domestic Servant, Tennessee

That is the family. His middle name was Washington and his first wife Martha had died and he remaaried a Nancy. Now I at least know what time frame Martha died. This is great. You are the best. William C Brown must have been married already to a Susanna. I am wondering if they were in same county or had moved. Any other Browns living next to Washington in 1870 census I wonder. I will re-post to the message board. You have doen plenty. Thansk so very much! Kim
