Michael Emanuel - London to Charleston SC (1780s)

Hi. I am a direct descendant of Michael Emanuel, who left London in the late 1780s with his wife, Flora (Levy) Emanuel, and children. Michael and Flora settled in Charleston, SC, where he died in 1801. She died in Georgetown, SC, in 1817. Their children were Michael, Joel (my direct ancestor), Nathan, Charlotte, and Simeon. I have compiled much information about this family in America, but I cannot find much about them in England (other than a bit of Levy/Cohen genealogy).

Does anyone have any information about who Michael Emanuel's parents or siblings were? The best I can tell, there were some Joel and Nathan Emanuels in London in the early 1800s (after my people left), but I have no way of connecting them (or disproving a connection).

For the record, my direct Emanuel line is Michael > Joel > William Pledger > Philip Cummings > PHilip Hamilton > Benjamin Francis (my father).

Thanks in advance.

Hello Tony. I am pretty sure we are kin. I am a direct descendant of Simeon Emanuel. I have not found any thing on the Emanuel side either. I do know my Grandfather left Charleston and moved to Marlboro County in South Carolina and became the Post Master in Blenheim South Carolina. I have been to Charleston and visited Michael and Flora's Graves. If I found out anything more, I will gladly share. Susan Mckenzie
