Surnames: McBurnie, Dunn, Jollimore
I am lookling for any information on Isaac McBurnie & his wife Maggie Dunn or any of their decendents. Isaac and Maggie were married Jan 14, 1890, at Wallace Bridge, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia by Rev. Samuel Boyd. Isaac was the s/o Nicholas McBurnie. Isaac was a mason by trade. Maggie was the d/o Patrick Dunn & Isabella Jollimore of Tatamagouche, Colchester Co., N.S. According to the 1901 Cumberland Co. census, Isaac was b. Jan 4, 1853 & Maggie Aug 5, 1892. The census also states that they had 2 children; Mary b. June 26, 1894 in the U.S. and James b. Oct 19, 1895 in Canada.
Son James may have married a Mary Haley and may have died about 1956
Although on the marriage slip it says he was a bachelor, he may have been married before to a Margaret Gallant or an Agnes. These may not be the same men.

I have found a previous marriage for Isaac to Agnes McCabe b. 1861 - married 14 Aug 1877 Truro, Nova Scotia, daughter of Daniel McCabe and Mary. I have also located 2 daughters from that marriage, Margaret Jane b.22 Apr 1889 New Glasgow, and Gertrude b. 1879 Truro. With Margaret Dunn, I have located:
Ernest b.13Jul 1893-d.13 Aug 1893 Malden, Mass., Mary May b.26 Jun 1894 Malden, Mass, James Isaac b.19 Oct 1895 Nova Scotia, and Mildred b.1899 Wallace, NS. I also have located a possible 3rd wife: Margaret Gallen b.1866 Carlisle,PQ - d 26 Oct 1926 Amherst. The family seems to have relocated to NB. Both Mary and Mildred married in St. John, NB. James Isaac d.18 May 1956 in St.John, NB. I have located 4 children, but feel there may have been more due to the gaps in the birth dates. Hope this helps.

Nicolas "Nelson" McBURNIE, was born between 1817 and 1825 was married to Mary HYNDMAN / HAYMAN , daughter of David HAYMAN and Margaret HENDERSON. Mary was born 01 Aug 1825 according to the 1901 Cumberland census.

Some have attached Mary HYNDMAN to William McBURNIE who married Mary McCULLY so unless there was a second marriage, it's a mistake.

I have found three children so far and there is much confusion because of the sons multiple marriages, often while still married to others. Because of this, the birth years fluctuate:

Isaac McBURNIE, born about 04 Jan 1853. Married Susan Agnes McCABE as described above. Agnes appears with two daughters with her own family in 1881 at Salmon River, Colchester and listed as married: Maud, born about 1877 and Mabel, born about 1879. It's believed Agnes died at St. Croix, Hants in 1900.

When Isaac McBURNIE married Maggie Dunn, he lists his father on the marriage cert as "Nelson" McBURNIE. No mother mentioned and describes himself as a "Bachelor".

I haven't found a death record for Margaret DUNN but it appears Isaac married Margaret GALLANT between 1911 and 1914.

Robert H. McBURNIE was born sometime between 1863 and 1870 and first married Julia Ann CAMERON 03 Dec 1890 in Malden. Parents listed as Nicolas McBURNIE and Mary "HYMAN". Julia was the daughter of David Nelson CAMERON and Harriet M. (ORCUTT) SHERMAN. Children were Lillian Theresa b.1890, Frank b.1892 and Walter b.1894.

Robert disappeared and Julia declared herself a widow in 1900 but on 11 Mar 1908 Robert married Hilda M. SWENSON, (born 1882 in Sweden) in Malden. He left Hilda sometime after 1910. She stayed with her parents for 1920 and 1930.

On 07 Jun 1914, Robert married Ellen Agnes PRATT in Belmont, Colchester, declaring himself a widower. Ellen would later marry Charles PEPPARD at Truro 28 Jul 1930, declaring herself a widow. Impossible to say at this point if Robert was actually dead or moved on to yet another wife.

I'd very much like to know where and when Nicolas "Nelson" McBURNIE, wife Mary HYNDMAN / HAYMAN and son Robert passed and where they are buried though I assume it's in or around Wallace, Cumberland for the parents.

For the births of Margaret Jane in 1889 and Gertrude in 1879, can someone post links for the NS birth vitals?

Hope that helps.
