Looking for help! Michael Malarkey (b. abt 1825),
Irish immigrant settled in Boston with wife
Maragus (sp ?)(b. abt 1820). 1860 Census
shows children: Susan (18), Anna (14) and
Michael Jr. (10). I believ Michael had
brothers Thomas and James. Susan married a
James GALLAGHER and relocated to SF. Susan
and James are my gggrandparents. I have
hundreds of names, dates, etc.... Where in
Ireland did they come from. The Census is
very hard to read.
Thanks.

Michael Malarkey

I came across your note on the Malarkey family. Check out the 1910 Miracode for Ohio for a Michael J. Malarkey. He was born in Ireland about 1848.

When I first read this posting, I didn't see a connection.
However, with more research on my part, I now see a possibility. You made referance to Michael having 2 Brothers (Thomas & James). Would that be Sr or Jr. If it is Sr. (Michael born in 1825), then My James could be the Brother?
In 1856, Malarkey's were only located in Co. Derry (Londonderry), in all of Ireland. (3 Families). Check out my Posting of "James & Mary Malarkey". Let me know what you think?

EdPatLogan made a posting in 2004 about their ancestor James Malarkey who could be a brother to Michael Malarkey of Boston who was born in about 1825. Yes, they could be. Michael's last name is spelled a variety of ways in both Ireland and the US. I found him in Moville, Innishown peninsula of County Donegal and found the house, on Griffith's valuation, where he lived at some time during the years of 1858-64.
If the Logans are still around and would like to share information please contact me.

Yes, I am alive & well in Pennsylvania.

There has been a lot of research done in the 4-5 years since I posed the question of sibilings ! My Gr. Grand Father Michael Mullarkey / Malarkey (1855-1858) arrived in the USA in May 1880, and was listed in June 1880 Census as son of James (1832) & Mary Caviston (1833) Malarkey in Archbald, Pennsylvania. This was determined not to be correct. James was probably an uncle.

James & Mary came from the Border area of Co. Mayo & Sligo.
There are two Family groups of Mullarkey's. I have just finished some research on these Malarkey / Mullarkey Families. It is a 5 page "word document" and can not be attached.

Write to me at EJLJBL@aol.com and I'll send it as an attachment.

If you find some connection to your Boston Malarkey's, I would truly be interested.

PS: My Mother was Malarkey, Dau of John, Son of Michael.

Yes, I am still researching my Malarkey's from Moville. My Michael was born in 1812 in Moville and died November 24 1887. His father was named Francis and his mother, Susan. Michael named his first born daughter Susan (1841 1909), she was my 2x great-grandmother. Thanks.
