Martin (my gggfather) was born in Limerick (father Timothy Heheir), but in London aged 24 for the 1841 census. Do these names and details coincide with any other researcher's ancestors? Does anyone know of any other instances of the spelling Heheir, pron. Hare (for [O']Hehir)?

There are many different variations of this name.
I have a page on it on my website at:
http://www.irishmcgoff.com/Hehirs/history%20of%20the%20name%...

Also, I've got ship lists lists of Hehir's where
persons in the same family have their names spelled
differently.

I hope this helps,

Hello. My gggrandfather is also Martin Heheir, his father was Timothy Heheir. Martin heheir married Helen Connell in Stepney in 1841. Helen died and Martin went on to marry my gggrandmother Honora Cronin. They had a daughter Ellen (my great-grandmother). It sounds like we are researching the same person.

Martin Heheir etc.

Hello Jane! You're right. It's great to hear from you again. We swapped some info by 'phone a few years ago and met at my parents' umpteenth wedding party. I think you moved, and my mother lost touch. I'm glad you're still into genealogy. Have you found much via the net? I recently discovered a HORLOR single-name study based in Australia, but haven't had a chance to follow it up yet. You may have found Michelle MacGoff's HEHIR homepage via this site. Do drop me a "line" at heathco@aol.com , and I'll fill you in. I'm sure we could waste hours of each other's time!

Regards

Philip

Hello Martin,

My great grandmother Maria Heher born 1803 in Ireland married a James Fox 1828 came to England 1834/1836. Could this be a connection to your Heher family?

Hi, my g-g-grandfather was Martin Heheir who was in London and I believe he is our common ancestor. I expect that I don't have any more info. than you have though, which I have gleaned from the records. My research seems to stop with them.

Regards.
