There is on page 1134 of "History of Southeast Missouri illustrated 1888" quite a paragraph on the family of Capt. W.T. Leeper from Maury County, TN who was grandson of Virginian Hugh Leeper. One of W.T. sons was George W. Could this be the G.W. you refer to?

Unconfirmed family stories has his name George Washington Leeper, but I haven't found any "proof" so I just use the initials G.W. as it appears on the marriage record. Amanda is buried in the farm cemetery of William T. Leeper in or near Leeper, MO. Soooo... the answer is yes I am very interested in the information from the book. This sounds like the same person to me..

Thanks BUNCHES for your response!

Amanda (Martin) Leeper is the oldest daughter of my great grandparents Edward Everett & Aurora Belle (Nanna) Martin.

Soooo... Family stories has it that his name was George Washington Leeper. Is this correct? I have only used initials because that is all I have "proof" of. I don't even have his birth date, only that they married 10 Dec 1905.

I would most definitely like to know more about their daughter, Thelma. And of course I will absolutely share my information on the families with you.

My great aunt, Alberta Webb, married George Leeper after his first wife, Amanda, died. She raised his daughter, Thelma, who married George Luxton. What is your connection to this family?

There is indeed an Amanda Leeper, born Nov 22, 1877, died Apr 9, 1911 buried in the Leeper Cemetery, Mill Spring Mo., Wayne County. And she may well have been married to George Washington Leeper. He was not a son of William T. Leeper, ( he had no sons by that name in either of his two marriages)but was most likely his nephew. The 1860 Federal census of Wayne County shows two boys, George W, age 16 and Samuel D., age14 living in the W. T. Leeper household. There is no George W. Leeper in the cemetery.
Wm.T.'s five brothers were Greenup, Benjamin,John,Samuel and George W.. My guess is that these two boys were the sons of Greenup Leeper who also moved to Missouri near the time that Wm. T did.
My mother was the youngest daughter of Wm. T. and Margaret Virginia Lee.
