YEOWARD family, Melbourne/Adelaide

I am seeking descendants of Eric & Dudley YEOWARD who were born Isle of Man 1894 & 1896. Mother was Nellie & father John (died 1908)
There are newspaper clippings of deaths, marriages & weddings etc. Dudley emigrated to Australia after WW1 & died in 1954 in Melbourne and was a well known wool man, working for Robert Jowitt & sons in Adelaide. He had 2 sons.
His mother Nellie apparently married my great uncle Richard Nightingale BANKS and they had a son Nigel in 1913. I am currently in touch with Nigel's son and we would love to make contact with the Australian family, either from Eric or Dudley's line.

Any info on their whereabouts is welcome! I believe there is a grand daughter of Eric who posted on a genealogy forum but cannot find her.

Dudley and his wife Margaret Hilda HARLAND had son Dudley Robert Harland YEOWARD in 1923. He served in WWII as did his father in some capacity. See NAA Recordsearch. Son Dudley R H died in SA in 2011. His father was his nok so perhaps he did not marry. There are only a few YEOWARDs in SA and only 2 in Victoria, so the white pages phone directory is worth a try!

Try typing in Yeoward this link. It will take you to the funeral notice of Dudley Robert Harland Yeoward, You will need to change the drop down box next to the calendar to "all time".

The Australian White Pages in online for free at

It would appear Dudley's widow is still alive and listed.

Thankyou Rhonda so much for this info!
The clues that Eric was in Canada and that his sons were born there are a big help! Looking at the maps Red Deer is not far from Nevis where we suspected Eric had gone to in the early 1900s, most probably pre WW1.

Replies to my posting also indicate relatives in white pages in Australia who i can write to. I now hope to find Eric in passenger lists going to Canada, but would also like to discover when he went to Australia! What incoming pax lists are there for Australia, tho not sure what years to look - inter war years.
Thanks again

Hi Richard

The National Archives Australia passenger index up to 1950 did not name Eric and family. (I did not check for an odd spelling of the surname!)
A YEOWARD surname search though at NAA brought up another son born 1928 in Red Deer, and he joined the Navy in 1946. So the timeframe is from 1928 up to 1940.
Passenger records in other States generally are only up to the 1922 or 1923.
AncestorsOnboard/FindMyPast once had a free index up to 1960 but I have not been able to access it lately. Maybe one needs to logon nowadays.
