Thank you for the information. I appreciate your effort on my behalf. Based on the information I have from records in the United States, my ancestors came from CERKNICA or a nearby village called DOLENJA VAS. They came to the United States in the late 1800's and early 1900's. My great-grandfather was LUKAS/LUKOZ JERMAN and his wife was ANNA F. JERMAN. In the United States the spelling became Yerman. Lukas had a son, ANTON, who said that he was born in Cerknica 17 January 1892.

you have birth-place and date so you can ask at diocesan-archive in Ljubljana, Slovenia to get info to his parents and maybe more. you can write in english:

the austrian-hungarian Carniola/Krain was a crwonland of the Empire until end of WW1 in 1919.
so it must not be that the persons in present austrian phonebook are related to you. but also can be a possibility, as example Carinthia and Styria not so far away from homeland of your ancestors in present Slovenia.
