I am researching information on Pascal Hagan. I believe he was born in Mississippi near Yazoo in or around 1869. He married Mary Alice Katherine Daniels. I believe his fathers name was Henry and possibly had an uncle named Hiram in the Yazoo area. Pascal moved to Texas near Lubbock, but I can find no records of his death.

I would appreciate any information regarding this family. Thanks.

I'll try again. This afternoon a thunderstorm was brewing and I wanted to shut down my computer.

In my research I have found two major Hagan families in Mississippi. One is located in the Yazoo area and the other in the Kemper-Newton area. There are many similar names in both families but I have yet to find a connection between the two families.

I am descended from the family that settled in the Kemper- Newton area.
My early records are from an old family bible.

James Richard Hagan was born in Virginia 12 Sept 1812. A cousin doing research said it was the part of VA that is now West Virginia but I have no proof.
On 14 July 1836 in Sumter County, Alabama he married Rebecca Martin. I have the Sumter County record. Died 28 Feb 1881 in Union, Newton County MS. ( Go to the Find a Grave web site and search the Union Cemetery in Newton County MS for a picture of the tombstones of James and Rebecca)
James and Rebecca had the following children:
1. Francis Plesant Hagan aka Frank. b. 25 Sept 1837 in Alabama. m. G. M. Perkins on 02 Dec 1855. d unknown
2. Nancy Elizabeth Hagan, b. 23 Oct 1838 in AL d.25 Feb 1839
3. John William Hagan, b.17 Feb 1840 in AL d 02 Jan 1863 in MS
4. Matilda Pauline Hagan, b 23 Nov 1841 in Mississippi m B. F. Darnell 28 Oct 1866
d Unknown
5. JAMES HENRY HAGAN, b. 09 July 1844 in MS. m. Ella Kirk on 25 Oct 1865 d 24 Mar 1924
6.Robert Alexander Hagan, b 06 Jan 1846 in MS m Nancy White Hunter on 05 Jan 1872 d 23 Feb 1930
7. George Washington Hagan, b 09 Aug 1847 in MS. m Mary C Childers on 26 Dec 1869 d unknown.

Henry Hagan and Ella Kirk had the following children:
1.John Washington Hagan, aka Jack, b 8 Oct 1867 in MS m. Indiana McKee d 18 May 1941.
2. Andrew Clayborn Hagan, b 27 Jan 1869 in MS m Dora Luanna Estes d 10 Oct 1937
3. S. J. Hagan (daughter) b 21 Jul 1870 d 20 Feb 190? (tombstone not readable)
4. PASCAL H. HAGAN b 10 Jan 1872 in MS m Mary Alice Katherine Daniels aka Kate d 06 Mar 1926 in Hale County Texas (you can find data for Pascal and Kate on Hale County Texas in the Pearce Chapel Cemetery.
5. James Rufus Hagan (Uncle Jim) b 04 Mar 1874 in MS m Mandy d unknown. He lived in the Lubbock area of Texas. I met him several times at the Hagan family reunion which was held every July 4 for many years. He told me his grandfather came from Ireland but I have found no evidence of that. It was farther back than his grandfather.
6. David Hagan b 30 March 1876 d 30 Mar 1876.
7. Mary Susan Hagan (Aunt Sue) b 21 Apr 1878 in MS m William John Henry 20 Dec 1902. d 07 July 1962 in Newton County MS
8. JOE MIMS HAGAN (my grandfather) b 01 Jan 1881 in Kemper County MS. m Annie Laura Bullard in Newton County MS 03 July 1910. d 16 Mar 1931 in Forrest County MS.
9. George Haze Hagan b 01 Feb 1885 m Lizzie Eveline Williams May 1910 d 16 Jan 1955.
10. Tommy Hagan b 12 Mar 1890 d. 01 Apr 1990 in Newton County, MS.

The children I have for Pascal and Kate are mostly taken from census records. They are Henry J., b 1900, Richard, Velma, Clara, Dolly, Olier or something like that, Ines, and Loxie born in 1916.

Does this sound like your family?? I hope I haven’t made any typos. If you want sources or more info you can contact me. June in Mississippi

I have some curiosity about a Hiram Hagan who died in Houston Co., GA in 1831. Some folks have said he is the same man who married Jane (? location?) in 1827.

I will insert some links for consideration below, but in a nutshell, some speculation, beware:

Hiram Hagan married Martha Jane Gardner in 1827. In 1830 he appears in the Houston Co., GA census. In 1831 he dies. In 1834 "Jinsey" Hagan remarries Frederick Watson. She had at least two children by Hiram, ages noted in the 1830 census, and it seems that one was Mary Frances who took the name of her stepfather, thus Mary Frances Watson, born circa 1828.

Mary Frances Watson marries Jesse Pedrick circa 1842, possibly Lee Co., GA, and lives between the Frederick and Richard Watson families in Dooly Co., GA in the 1850 census.

The Pedrick (sometimes appearing as Peddrick) family moves, along with Frederick and Jinsey Watson, to Lowndes Co., GA circa 1851. Frederick Watson dies there in 1854, will recorded. In 1858 this section of Lowndes Co. becomes part of Brooks Co., GA.

Jesse Pedrick goes off to war and dies in prison in 1865.

Among children of Jesse and Mary Frances (Hagan, Watson) Pedrick is James Hiram Pedrick 1843-1915, died in Pasco Co., FL.

Mary applies for a Civil War widows pension.

Julia Ann Cordelia Watson, youngest daughter of Frederick and Jincey Watson, marries James C. Carroll in Brooks Co., GA. According to Carroll family lore, Julia and J.C. move to Texas about 1872. They are listed in the Anderson Co., TX census for 1880 by initials, J.C. and J.A.C.

Jinsey the old widow was supposed to have gone to Texas and lived until 1881, but I can't be too sure I've found her, but there is a possible match in AL that year, going by the name Haggan and rendered by most transcribers as Jenney, but inspecting the handwriting sure looks like Jencey to me, age is a rough match, neighbors are mostly of the family name Broach.

Mary Pedrick remains in Brooks Co., GA.

That's about it... I'm feeling pretty confident that Jincey Hagan who married Frederick Watson was the widow of Hiram Hagan.
