Emily was the seventh child of Bartle Bartleson and Clarissa Kethcart. The family is documented in The Commemorative Biographical Record of Northeastern Pennsylvania, published in 1900.

I don't know anything about Clarissa's parents or siblings. Maybe the information I do have will provide some clues as to where to look (birthplace and church - see below).

I would be very interested in anything you are willing to share re: the Bartleson line, and I'll return the favor. Please email irictreas @ yahoo . com (without the spaces around the '@' and the '.', of course).

Clarissa was born January 20, 1808 in Bartonville [or Bartonsville], Northampton Co., PA, and died on her birthday, January 20, 1884.

She was a "consistent" member of the Methodist Episcopal Church [Dreher?]. She and her husband (Bartle) are buried in Pine Grove cemetery.

I'm not sure where you would find it. I only have a copy of an excerpt that discusses C.I. Bartleson.

The Commemorative Biographical Record of Northeastern Penna, 1900, does state the following: "Emily C. [Bartleson] born June 18, 1837, is the wife of H.A. Lancaster a lumberman of Dreher township."

I also found a reference to H.A. and William in "The Greene Hills of Home" (published 3/1/1996 by the Greene Township Historical Society). This publication contained a list of people buried at the Zion Cemetery in Sterling Township. It states: "Lancaster, Grandfather and Grandmother, William Lancaster, 1756-1833; Ann, his wife, 1762-1839; Richard, Jr., 1811-1831; Jane, 1833-1843; Richard, 1794-1871; Frances McIIvain, his wife, 1793-1859; Lucy Mitchell, 1833-1855. Stone erected by H.A. Lancaster.
