Looking for ancestry to Lewis L. Lowman who married Elizabeth Abee, and they had 10 children.
Sarah, Aldolphus, Etta, Rosalie, Celia, Zora, Colis, Blanie(Solomon Bland), Lillie, and Lula. Lewis's parents were Levi and Sarah E. Martin Lowman. Lewis and Sam Lowman helped with the construction of "Abees Chapel Baptist Church" in Valdese, N.C., where Lowman's and Abee's are buried. Their are also Lowman's and Abee's buried at "Abees Grove Baptist Church" and they are down the street from one another.
Lewi's 2nd marriage was to Ila/Leila Huffman, and I heard they had 5 children. One of them was my father(James Lewis Lowman), and he had a sister named Louise who married a Rector. My father was b. 1930 - d. 1995. His father, Lewis, was 45 years older than his mother. She would have been young enough to remarry again after my grandfather died. If anyone has any information on Abee's, Lowman's, or Ila Huffman of Burke Co., N.C., could you please e-mail me at I would very much appreciate it.

Dottie-My grandmother was Rose Ella Abee and her mother was Caroline Huffman--there is a book on the Eby family which is the original spelling and the homeplace is still lived in near Lancaster Pa. You can find the whole genealogy if you look under Eby. Also there is a great book tracing the Huffman family in NC written by Max Huffman in the 1930;s--my cousin has a copy. My email is not working but you can contact me at my office during the day at 336-635-2015 if you want more info--Karen
