Johann Nicholaus Willman was living in Blackford County in 1840 with father, Johann Stephan; mother, Anna Margarethe Mahr; and brother, Johann Peter. His older half brother Johann Michael did not arrive in Blackford County until 1855. Johann Nicolaus married Elizabeth Schrader Aug. 11, 1846. Children were John B. (1848-1941), Barbara Ann born in 1850, Sarah M. born in 1852, Julia, died early and Mary A. born in 1857. By 1860 Nicolaus and family had left Blackford County. My info is that they moved to Western Missouri. We can exchange more info if desired.

I don't have a personal fax number, but use one through Printer's Express in Hartford City. Fax to 1-765-348-4514 and tell them it is for Nolan Willman at 348-1981. They know me in this office and will call me. Thanks - Nolan

Dear all,
My family live and have done so in the UK for quite some time, apparently we come from Germany and at that time were Quaker soap makers. I would just like to be able to confirm or deny these possible facts.
Any info would be useful, I'll be waiting for your replies.

willmans in Mexico

I don't know if this helps verify about soap making but I'm from Mexico and my maternal grandfather had the last name willman he was born in 1898 in Mexico. His father's name was Juan (we believed he changed it) and his mother was Catalina. They were originally from brownsburg, texas but since catalina was caucasian and juan was african american making their marriage illegal they moved to Mexico. we believe that juan might have been a slave in the beginning of his childhood or one of his parents was -giving him the name willman and catalina might have been a daughter in the plantation or she was another girl juan knew, that's as far as we know about the name it's difficult because Mexico doesn't really have this info. What I have noticed is that many of the Willmans came to Indiana. But their might be many more Willmans in mexico or at least descendants because my grandfather did have a brother. and my grandfather never married he "took care of" at least three households. he didn't care for his sons financially (since they were men) and only took care of his daughters and wives. If you know of any willmans that migrated to Texas around the 1800's Please reply.

Thanks for the reply. The problem our end is that nobody really kept any records of the Willmans and their travels.
My Auntie Ida Willman, who now lives in the Ilse of Man is about the only person to of spent any serious time tracking down movements. Ida was married to my great Uncle Thomas brother of my Grandfather Bernard Willman of Lancaster, Lancashire, UK.
Again thanks for your reply.

My Mother was the daughter of John (Mack) Willman of Hartford City. I have several old letters written between my Grandfather (Mack) and his first wife Evelyn Lloyd.
