My gg-grandfather came to US in mid 1800's from Wertemberg (sp?) We do not know the exact year. He married Anna Zant, my gg-grandmother, who came to this country from Bavaria. They married in Mobile, Al Oct 29, 1859 and had 3 children, Catherine, Joseph and John. Joseph was my g-grandfather who married a Cooper. They lived in Bon Secour, Al where they raised their children. Their son, Joseph Edward was my grandfather. I have a family member who is doing research of the family and he says their are many Wenzels. Some settled in Texas, however we do not believe this is our line. There is a Website by Wenzel Associates in Texas if you think they could help. Good luck and let me know if you see a connection.

Hi Elsa:
It is your last name which has attracted my attention. MY wife's grandfathers name was Ewald Wenzel who married Anna Richter. Anna's family were told were killed in fire?
Anyway, Ewald and Anna had three maybe four children Ernst, Eric, Hilda, Anna. They were farmers in a town called Ruzova ,CSSR (German name would have been Rosendorf). When I compare the locations of Zittau, Cunnersdorf, Ruzova can't be further than twenty kilometers from either of these towns.
My Wenzels are not in the states either that I know of.

Please e-mail me directly at your convenience

These names seem to be very popular names in the vacinity f Laubau/Zittau near Cunnersdorf in Germany. My grandmother Julia Wenzel married my grandfather ? Freund. My husband's name was Richter. His family also came from this same section. I met him when he came here to live and stayed with my father's sister.
