I have a copy of a letter from Great Aunt Mary Vlasik, who was born Mary Victoria (my great grandfather's sister) and lived in Los Angeles in 1904. Mary was born in Bohemia. She had one son. Not much more information. I have been trying to find out something about the Victorias (who could tell me what the name was in Bohemia as I haven't been able to do any tracing?).

A Thomas Vlasak b. 12/1846 - died 5/8/1924 emigrated to Cleveland Ohio. Thomas was a Mason/Plasterer/farmer. Married on 9/25/1875 to Maria Waick (Fucik). They had 5 children - Steve, Thomas Jr. Mar, Emma and Anna. This may be a start. I received this information from our family tree from Montgomery, Minnesota. There is a large number of Vlasak's whose roots are traced back to Cleveland Ohio.

My great-great grandfather/grandmother John (Jan) (1841 - 1920), 1st wife Mary Mares (1856 - 1889), 2nd wife (Louisa Lichtner (1857 - 1937). They had seven children Mary, Katherine, James, Rose, John, Frank and Emma. they settled in Montgomery, Minnesota. My grandfather is James (1879 - 1953). He married Francis (1884 - 1962). They had four children James, Ludmilla, Dorothy and Alvin. My father is Alvin (1926 - present). He married Rita Moore (1925 - 1993). They had eight chidren - Gregory, JoAnn, Gordon, Mark, Richard, Kurt, Patrick and June - all living. There is quite an extensive family of Vlasak's, as well as other Czech's in the Montgomery, Minnesota. The heritage is still strong, as Montgomery has a huge festival and known as the "Kolacky" Capital of the World. Let me know about your history.

I am a relative of the Vlasak's that settled in Cleveland Ohio in 1866. The family consisted of Frank Vlasak who passed away shortly after, 1868 and Frank, Vincent and Joseph and Fanny. There may have been more. Many went out west to settle. Joseph stayed in Cleveland, married Katerina Kucera and had many children including my great grandmother Antoinette Vlasak Warak.

I mentioned that I am a direct decendent of the Cleveland Vlasak Family. But, members of the family went out west. The places included Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa and South Dakota. It is believed that Vincent Vlasak settled in South Dakota...maybe Yankton as did Frank Vlasak for a short while. They eventually left that area. Anyone know anything about that family?
